About the host
Hosted by Danielle Dunn
Hi there—we’re the proud new owners of El Colorado Lodge, a historic adobe retreat nestled at the base of Pikes Peak in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Built in the 1920s, this beloved property has welcomed travelers for nearly a century—drawn here by mountain views, healing springs, and a bit of stillness. Over the next year, we’re thoughtfully reimagining the lodge as El Colorado Stays: a curated collection of design-forward casitas, each with its own story, spirit, and soul. Stay tuned for our full relaunch in late summer 2026—just in time for the lodge’s 100-year anniversary.
As your hosts, we’re not a faceless corporation—we’re locals, explorers, and design lovers who believe great travel should be beautiful, personal, and easy. We’re updating every space with care, blending rustic adobe charm with modern comforts. Think cozy beds, smart locks, Wi-Fi, and touches of quiet luxury.
While renovations are underway, rest assured: your stay won’t be near active construction. We’re restoring the property in phases to preserve guest experience. You’ll be staying in one of our classic, well-loved cabins—rich with charm, stories, and mountain air. Next time you visit, it might look a lot different—but the historic charm of El Colorado will remain the same.
Whether you’re here to hike, unplug, reconnect, or just breathe in the view—we’re honored to host you. Thanks for considering El Colorado Lodge. We hope your story stays here.

Why they chose this property
Manitou Springs is a dream basecamp for adventure seekers. Tucked right at the foot of Pikes Peak, our location puts you within minutes of Colorado’s most iconic outdoor experiences—without sacrificing the charm of a small mountain town. Whether you’re summiting the legendary Manitou Incline (2,768 steps of pure bragging rights), hiking the Barr Trail to the summit of Pikes Peak, or biking the sandstone switchbacks of Red Rock Canyon Open Space, you’re never far from your next trailhead.
We love how energizing and unpretentious this area is. There’s a natural rhythm to the neighborhood; trail runners, climbers, cyclists, and weekend wanderers all crossing paths between coffee shops and canyon ridgelines. If you're into big goals, this is home to the Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent, two of the most iconic mountain races in the country. In winter, nearby routes turn to snowshoe and cross-country havens, and there’s something special about seeing Garden of the Gods dusted in snow.
At El Colorado, you’re close enough to catch sunrise on the summit, but far enough from the crowds to hear the quiet. After a day outdoors, come back to a hot shower and a cabin made for recovery.
This isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a launchpad. A place where you can chase elevation, explore hidden canyons, and still make it back in time for tacos and a beer downtown. That’s why we love it here. And why we think you will too.

What makes this property unique
El Colorado Lodge isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a piece of Colorado history. Built in the 1920s and lovingly preserved, the property is a rare collection of original adobe cabins set across 3.6 acres at the foot of Pikes Peak. You won’t find long hallways or cookie-cutter rooms here—each cabin has its own entrance, story, and vibe. It's like your own little cabin village, with plenty of space to breathe.
What really sets us apart is the blend of historic charm and location. Our classic hold onto their retro charm, with warm woodwork, vintage touches, and the kind of character you just can’t fake. All have private outdoor spaces and are surrounded by mountain views and fresh pine air.
Guests love the laid-back privacy (no shared walls!) and the feeling of staying somewhere with soul. We're also unique in that we straddle two worlds—part boutique retreat, part mountain basecamp. Whether you're in town for a trail race, a romantic weekend, or a solo reset, you’ll find the right fit here.
Oh—and there open space to roam, and a cozy playground if you're bringing little ones. It’s rare to find this kind of property so close to downtown Manitou and Garden of the Gods.
We're not trying to be flashy—just authentic, peaceful, and quietly unforgettable.
