Beautifully Maintained Mid-Century Contemporary on Crockett Cove. Muir`s Cove Cottage (formerly known as Cove View Cottage) is a mid-century, contemporary home designed and built by revered architect Emily Muir. Muir’s Cove Cottage has three bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms. The cottage has a split level design with a wall of windows on the water side inviting in the views of Crockett Cove. Upon entrance you can step up to the kitchen, living, dining area which are all open to one another or go down toward the bedrooms and sleeping quarters.

We will start the description, by stepping up to the main floor of the cottage. Muir`s Cove Cottage is nicely decorated with recent furniture updates and many accents that make the room feel comfortable and casual. Muir’s Cove Cottage enjoys a fireplace which is available for guests to use and lovely views of the cove from a wall of windows on the opposing wall. There is a table with seating for six as well as three stools at the snack bar to make dining for nine available in one warm and inviting area. The kitchen is nicely stocked so guests can prepare most any meal and has a dishwasher for those that refuse to do dishes on vacation.

The main floor at Muir’s Cove Cottage also has one bedroom with a convertible king trundle and a desk for those that might have some work items to tend to while also enjoying their Stonington vacation. This room does have an ensuite half bathroom as well as a loft with a full mattress, ideal for the older kids and teens that might make travels to the cottage.

The entry level at Muir’s Cove Cottage holds the door to the full bathroom that has a shower / tub combo, a vanity and linen storage. There is also a coat closet for easy storage of rain and swim gear in the entry hall. The ground floor of Muir’s Cove Cottage has two additional bedrooms. The first bedroom has two twin beds, a television with streaming capabilities and a nice closet. The second bedroom has a queen bed, a closet and a couch for easy lounging with a book. The bedrooms both have sliding glass doors hence direct access to the outdoors.

Muir`s Cove Cottage does enjoy some great tidal ocean frontage. Take a short stroll on a well beaten path to get to the water. 10/10 Excellent

Johnathan M.

We loved Muir's Cove Cottage.

Perched in the woods above Crockett's Cove, with fine views across the water, Muir's Cove Cottage is well-designed and well-equipped. We felt right at home from the moment of arrival. The bedrooms are tidy, with good linens; the kitchen, though of a size to avoid the problem of "too many cooks" is well-equipped, enabling us to cook anything we wished (baked a birthday cake!) Living room was very comfortable, the perfect place for curling up with a book, and the adjacent dining area accommodated a dinner party for 7, and did double duty as a place to finish a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle. Porch overlooking the water was a great place for a morning coffee, a bite of lunch, or an afternoon reading session on one of the chaises longues. There was really nothing that we lacked while we were there. Marvelous library of books in multiple languages attest to the intelligence and taste of the owners, which imbues the property (among the surrounding trees, a well-placed hammock as well as an Adirondack chair turned in the direction of the sunset....) It's helpful that there's a dishwasher to keep things tidy. That there is no washer/dryer is understandable, so we planned and packed accordingly. The cottage's location makes it easy to reach all that the area has to offer. An informative notebook in the cottage explained proper procedures for the property (e.g. accessing very reliable hi-speed internet, which allowed those with occasional work obligations to keep up with them) and offered guidance to local attractions, restaurants and events. We kayaked, we hiked, we glimpsed a bald-eagle, and dolphins. We 'chilled' and achieved 'full vacation'. Proof of the success of this visit came, a few days after we settled in, when one of my sons asked whether there was a chance we could rent the cottage again next year. Further proof: when one of our visitors had to leave, she called it "a magical place." It is a spot that one doesn't want to leave, and in lieu of that, a place one hopes to revisit. Yes, it's a cliché, but—this is truly a cozy cottage.

CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellations must be in writing and received by Agent. Cancellations may only be made between the date that a reservation deposit is received and a date determined to be 45 days prior to the tenants scheduled arrival date. Cancelations within 45 days of arrival will not result in a refund in whole or part of rental monies received. If a cancellation is made prior to 45 days of arrival, the Agent shall, as an accommodation to the Tenant, make an effort to re-rent the property at the published rate for the rental term reserved. No refund of rents paid will be made until the canceled period is re-rented and confirmed. If the canceled period is re-rented, any rent and taxes paid will be refunded less a $100 administrative fee. If the re-rental amount is less than the published rate, any difference in rental rate remains the sole obligation of the tenant. If the unit is not re-rented, all rents paid, processing fees and taxes shall be forfeited as damages. This cancellation policy is strictly followed. Tenants are encouraged to purchase travel insurance for all vacations to cover many situations that may arise that might cause one to cancel vacation plans. There are many independent insurance providers available to tenants.
I understand that the insurance company holds this policy and that The Island Agency does not determine eligibility of claims.
