The apt itself was a good value for the cost, as pictured, and cleaned very well. I didn't mind that it didn't have a living room since we were gone all day and tvs in each bedroom Location wise, it's a 2nd floor walk up over a barber shop. The neighborhood was mostly quiet& felt safe. With planning, the trip to the city in public transportation wasn't too bad there were 2 buses 1-3 blocks away. The issues were mostly with the owner's communication. It was terrible...actually nonexistent. None of my questions sent before booking and check in were answered. Only automated messages and no response to phone calls and texts. As a VRBO host myself, I understand how it works. I traveled with my husband and teenagers to go siteseeing in New York City. We were driving, I figured this residential neighborhood would be ideal since it had street parking. After getting a parking ticket, we learned that parking there was only for 4 hours. The address in the app & what they messaged us were different. I tried for a day to get clarity, no respond to me or VRBO support. We didn't get clarity on the address until about 8 pm the day of check in. We were given a code for the lockbox with apt keys but not the keypad code to get into the building so we had to depend on someone letting us in. And one bedroom had no privacy. It has a glass door with no curtains on the door and the windows that face the street has no curtains either. It wouldnt have been a big deal if they responded & fixed it.
