The Sparkling Shell condo at Coral Beach was everything we hoped it would be! Beautiful view, squeaky clean with comfortable bed and very good food at the condo restaurant, La Roc.Dessi our host made everything easy and walked us through every step which was much appreciated as this was our first time using VRBO. She really went above and beyond to make our stay perfect with quick responses and suggestions of things to do to so we would get the most out of our stay. Be sure to visit Gold Rock Beach and Flying Fish restaurant. The beach at Coral Beach is gorgeous. We can't wait to return!

I am so glad that you had a great time at the Sparkling Shell! It was wonderful hosting you and I hope you will return again soon! Thank you!
The unit was very nice but the rest of the building was tired. Security was good. The LaRoc restaurant on site had good food but limited hours. They were only open 1pm - 8pm and there wasn’t any breakfast places we could find other than Burger King and Wendy’s. Solomon’s market was nearby and the prices were extremely high compared to a tourist area in Florida. We took the ferry over, which I would never do again. Not a lot to do and everything is a drive and we couldn’t find anything when we did drive around. Also the driving is like Great Britain, left on the road and right inside the car. We won’t be back.

I am so glad to hear that you felt the condo was nice! I regret that you were not able to enjoy Grand Bahama Island. LaRoc restaurant is on the condo property (by the pool), and they have the best food and drinks on the island. Their hours are typically 11 am-10 pm, and later with entertainment on the weekends. The only times I have ever known them not to keep those hours were during extreme weather circumstances. My favorite breakfast restaurant is Zorbas, which is at Port Lucya- a short 3-minute drive from the condo. They have everything imaginable for breakfast- pancakes, waffles, omelets, eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, etc. Groceries in the Bahamas are more expensive than in Florida because almost everything processed in factories is imported by ship. Fruit, vegetables, and meat that are grown/raised on the island are comparable to what you would pay in Florida. I find that meal costs in restaurants are very comparable to what you would pay in the US. For example, if you sit down at LaRoc and order a very nice specialty burger with fries, you will pay about $14 for the meal. I have never taken the Belaria Ferry to the island; however, I have many past tenants who have found it to be a fun and affordable option to flying. As far as things to do on Grand Bahama Island, there are great restaurants, bars, watersports, snorkeling, beautiful beaches, boat tours, swimming with pigs, Lucyan National Park, Peterson Cay National Park, Garden of the Groves Botanical Gardens, and Port Lucya (full of shops, resturants, bars, and entertainment only a 3- minute drive away). Pier One Restaurant actually feeds the sharks twice each evening, and that is one of my favorite things to go and watch. The island has a very laid-back vibe, with very little hustle and bustle, so if you are looking for relaxation, it's perfect. But if you are looking for crowds, parties, and big events, this island isn't for you. Everyone drives on the left side of the road, but you can rent cars with the steering wheel on the left or right- whatever you prefer. Traffic on the island is light (there are only 45K people who live there), so it is perfect for learning to drive on the left without pressure. I have had no problem driving there. And if you don't want to drive, it is very easy to get a taxi. I have many to recommend. Port Lucya is only a 3-minute drive/ride and is where Zorbas (breakfast) and shops, restaurants, bars, etc. are located. There are also many restaurants within a 20-minute drive. If you drive 45 minutes in either direction, you will come to the end of the island, so depending on what you think is a long drive, you can drive the entire island in less than 2 hours. I'm always happy to provide recommendations for places to go, and things to do and see!

Why they chose this property
Since I was a child, I dreamed of having a beachfront condo in the Bahamas! I'm so delighted to be able to share my dream with you!
What makes this property unique
At the Sparking Shell, you will find everything newly renovated and decorated in the fashion that I expect when I travel. I've taken special care to have the most comfortable linens, clean and new kitchen pots, pans, utensils, plates and glasses. You will find outlets beside your bed that will accommodate your phone chargers, toiletries under the sink in case you forgot something, and so many other special touches. My goal is that all my guests will enjoy my little piece of paradise just as much as I do! And before you go home, make sure to grab a sparking shell from the patio to take home with you as a souvenir from me!
