Secluded cottage equipped to a high standard with private swimming pool and spectacular open views tucked away in the tranquil Alentejo countryside.

3 large bedrooms (1 double with en-suite, 1 double and 1 twin sharing a separate bathroom).

Newly-built in the Alentejo style, the cottage is fully-fitted with open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area and with direct access to a spacious covered outdoor terrace and BBQ for alfresco living. TV and free WiFi.

Open and airy for summer living. Wood burner and underfloor heating for cosy winter nights.

In an elevated yet private hilltop position nestled within the cork oaks, the cottage overlooks the rolling Alentejo countryside with unlimited access to country trails for walking and mountain bike rides.

Nature at its most tranquil – with the sound of the crickets chirping, birds singing and sheep bells in the distance.

Enjoy the spectacular Alentejo sunsets with a sundowner on the terrace on a warm summer night. Take a midnight stroll under the clear light of a full Alentejo moon, or gaze in awe at the brilliance of a million stars on a moonless night.

Within walking distance to the small village of São Domingos – with all basic amenities such as cafés, bar/restaurant, mini-market, bakery and pharmacy.

Approximately 1 ½ hours by car from either of the international airports of Lisbon or Faro.

An outstanding Lower Alentejan offering in a spectacular location
What a privilege and delight to start my 55th road cycling season as a Canadian in Europe. In 26 European vacations for multi week independent cycling vacations the Star of the Hills…..Sue and Patrick’s remarkable rural Sao Domingos villa was an outstanding 5 star experience…true to the name of the home. Situated 2 km south of Sao Domingos on 40 acres of classic Alentejo scenery you will be treated to a very high standard home, incredibly spacious with spectacular views. Fit and finish of the home, amenities, phenomenal level of communication and care make this a rarity in the Iberian Peninsula. It would be in the top 5% of the 150+ bookings I have done over the 25 years in Europe vacations to support our cycling forays. Proximity to delightful rural museums in Sao Domingos and Abela, significant Roman ruins in Santiago do Cacem and phenomenal natural beaches at Almograve make this a most compelling property. The high standards and care are evident the minute you engage with Sue and Patrick. Far from the tourist hordes of the Algarve or the supposed must see “attractions” of Lisboa and Porto lies what arguably is the heart and soul of Portugal……Alentejo. Many Portuguese folks would agree. The Alentejo has it all and Estrela do Cerro…the star of the hills exemplifies what we love about independent self planned travel in Europe.

Douceur dans la grisaille
Malgré une météo maussade nous avons passé un excellent séjour entre visites, piscine, randonnées et cheminée. Sue et Pady sont des hôtes très accueillants. La maison est très confortable. Enfin petit clin d'œil pour la finale de rugby !

Lovely house with beautiful views
The house is in a lovely setting and is well designed to make the most of the view. It is well equipped with lots of storage. The owners were very friendly & responsive, and provided a lovely welcome pack. My son loved swimming (particulary at night) and my husband borrowed a bike to explore the cycling trails. There are some beautiful beaches within a 30 minute drive and some lovely restaurants in the area. All very relaxing!

Excelentes férias!
A casa é excelente, muito confortável, limpa e excepcionalmente bem equipada. Não falta nada para cozinhar, inclusivamente para fazer um churrasco (desde utensílios, sal, temperos, azeite, massa, arroz, carvão, etc.), nem para a limpeza da louça e roupa (detergentes, esponjas, estendal, molas). A casa fica a menos de 2 Km da vila de São Domingos, sendo prático para fazer as compras básicas. A zona é calma, tranquila e com boa exposição solar. No pátio há mobiliário de jardim e espreguiçadeiras, para usufruir da óptima piscina de água salgada. Quando chegamos, fomos recebidos pelos proprietários, a Sue e o Patrick, muito amáveis e prestáveis, e tínhamos pão alentejano, cervejas, vinho e um queijinho à nossa espera. Recomendamos vivamente este alojamento e desejamos à Sue e ao Patrick o maior sucesso!
