I’m Mica, born and raised in Elkhart, Kansas and returning home after several years in Wyoming. My husband, AJ—also an Elkhart native—and I are thrilled to begin this new chapter as the owners of The Cottage Inn.

By day I’m a licensed architect with a master’s in architecture; by heart I’m a lover of all things homemade. I spend my free time canning, blending spices, gardening, baking, and creating a cozy home environment.

Hosting at the Cottage is a dream come true for us. We love sharing this historic 1918 home with travelers and hope it brings you the same sense of comfort, charm, and small-town warmth that we grew up with. Welcome—we’re so glad you’re here.

Why they chose this property

One of my favorite scenes around the Cottage is the quiet, slow rhythm of early mornings in Elkhart. The neighborhood wakes up gently—birds moving through the old trees, a soft breeze through the garden, and that peaceful small-town stillness you don’t find many places anymore.

What makes this property unique

From the front porch and the sunroom, you can see neighbors walking their dogs, kids biking to school, and the sky stretching wide and open in every direction. It feels safe, familiar, and genuinely welcoming… the kind of place where you can breathe a little deeper and settle in.

Around the Cottage itself, I love the way the brick warms in the afternoon sun and how the garden room glows in the evening. It’s simple, cozy, and full of the same charm I grew up with—my favorite kind of scene to come home to.
