The location, the host, and the adorable townhome everything was amazing! The beds were so comfortable after a long day of walking and being in the sun. We would come back to this listing over and over again if we come back to Chania.

Amazing location, incredibly clean, and excellent communication throughout our stay. Everything was exactly as described, and the location couldn’t have been better. The thoughtful welcome gift of wine and homemade food was such a nice touch, especially after a long day of travel, and made us feel right at home.Overall, one of the best places we’ve stayed. We would highly recommend it!

From start to finish, our experience at this lovely home was phenomenal. Maria was such a gracious and welcoming host, communication was easy and she even sent us a guide to Chania to help us plan our stay before we even got there! When we arrived, there was a beautiful bowl of fresh fruit and other local treats - the perfect welcome!The home itself is so beautiful, clean and spacious with great attention to detail in every room - we really felt the warmth and comfort of a home away from home The location can’t be beat - right in the old town, just a few minutes walk to the old port and lighthouse, and a few minutes in the other direction, and you’ll find yourself in the bustling downtown Chania. Easy location for pick up and drop off for taxis as well as other day trips/tours you may want to take. Quiet and safe location.We already cannot wait to go back, and highly recommend Maria and this beautiful home!

Fabulous property. Wonderful location. Clean, clean, clean!! The warm dinners waiting for us upon arrival were scrumptious. The other special treats were a lovely touch. Maria is warm, kind and very communicative. Do not hesitate to stay here.

This was possibly the best holiday rental experience we have ever had. The house itself is small but exquisite. Everything squeaky clean. The furnishings tasteful and luxurious. The location perfect, in the old part of town but away from the noise and bustle but right near the harbour and with a private car parking space which is rare in Chania. The check in was easy with Maria's friend Manousos meeting us on the street and guiding us into the parking spot. The house was so well supplied with cleaning materials, appliances, utensils and tea, coffee, sugar etc. The welcome package included a large fruit bowel, wine, honey and many other items plus a home cooked meal for our first night. We were blown away.

Lovely Place Brilliant Location

The house is lovely. Maria left all kinds of treats for us including wine, fruit and a delicious meal. The location is excellent in the central part of the old city but off the beaten path. We could not ask for a better place to stay.

Mom’s Vacation

The house was amazing and beautiful. The location made it very easy to get to town, to food, and to the ocean. The owner was incredibly kind and thoughtful, she had homemade meals ready for my friend and I when we arrived because our plane got in late. Will hopefully be going back again!

Excellent vacation stay

Everything about DEZIREE was wonderful. The house was clean, beds were very comfortable and the location perfect for walking around the harbor and the old town. Maria, our host, provided a great booklet of places to visit in the area and restaurants. She even arranged for taxi pickup for us from the airport. If you have a rental car there is secured parking very close to the house.

Beautiful home in a great neighborhood

We loved our stay and our host, Maria, was great! Our ferry into Crete was delayed so we arrived after 10:00 PM and there was a warm meal waiting on our arrival!! Communication was easy and the neighborhood was right near the venetian harbor - a fun and beautiful area to explore. Would 100% recommend!

Exceptional home in a perfect location

Maria was the perfect host. The house is beautiful and immaculately clean. Communication with Maria was great - answering all our questions, arranging pickup from the airport, a warm welcome with a home cooked meal and excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to see. The house is just a few steps from the waterfront and is truly beautiful with everything you could possibly need provided with generosity and style. Thank you for everything - we cannot wait to go back!

Charming Chania home

We were greeted personally when we arrived and Maria had some special food and treats from Chania. After a long day of travel- we came home to a delicious home cooked meal! Maria’s home is even more charming in person! It is decorated beautifully and every detail thought out. The location was perfect in old town. Easy to get to shops and the harbor. I can only hope that can return another day.

Everything about our stay was perfection. The quaint alley that Deziree house was located was unbelievably convenient to the harbor, to restaurants, and shopping. Parking was convenient and getting to and from outside Chania activites was easy (once I figured out how to manuever out of the spot!). Maria was unavailable to meet us, but her dear friend, Manousos was delightful and welcoming and very patient with these American tourists. He showed us all that was needed for us to be comfortable during our stay. I must mention the delicious welcome meal that Maria's mother left us and the welcome basket Maria left, including Raki, Mountain Tea, and Cretan thyme honey. The warmth of the food and the welcome was just what we needed! We drank the mountain tea and let the Raki warm our thoughts. I will remember it for a very long time. I felt like I came home!

The hospitality "vibe" on the island of Crete is off the charts, but Maria somehow managed to take that lovely vibe up several notches with her lovely 2-bedroom restored home in Chania. My daughter and I were very warmly welcomed into a picture-perfect, charming space, where you have everything you need. Parking is a challenge in Chania, but we had our own private parking space, just around the corner from the house. The small kitchen is well-appointed, with two coffee makers, microwave, dishwasher, cooktop, oven and fridge, plus a thoughtful assortment of cooking and serving ware. We were just a few minutes away from the harbor front and even closer to a 24-hour mini-market and restaurants, so we didn't cook for ourselves, but we could have if we wanted to. The little washer-dryer combo unit worked beautifully, so we didn't have to over-pack for our trip. Maria provides a long and detailed list of recommended "things to do and see" and places to eat, and we took advantage of the recommended "Chania Cooking Class" at Veerna's Kitchen and had an absolutely magical afternoon! And did I mention how lovely the house and the neighborhood are? One of the loveliest and most comfortable places I have ever stayed. Thank you, Maria!

3-Level property

Everything was great except for 2 issues:1. We are in our 70s and were totally unprepared for the property to be on 3 separate levels. We were unable to get our luggage upstairs. The man who checked us in could not deal with the stairs either.2. The washing machine was too complicated and it was difficult to get the clothes dry.

I’m so sorry to hear that the staircase was a problem for you. Deziree is a fully restored 16th century building and its architecture is typical of the architecture of the Old Town of Chania. In any case in the listing there are at least 7 photos of the staircase. It is a pity you were not able to see them before booking. In addition, as I informed you during your stay, the official manufacturer's instructions for the washer-dryer are available in the house and I am sorry to hear that you found them complicated. Thank you once again for spending your holiday in Chania with us and please be assured that hospitality is something very precious to us.

A super relaxing trip full of amazing memories

Fantastic location for a stress free holiday for those who prefer not to drive whilst on holiday. A lovely quiet, safe neighbourhood within a few minutes walk of historical buildings, a huge variety of charming shops (including city shopping). The food was amazing, so much variety and very high quality with very memorable views and settings by the beautiful Venetian harbour. A couple of beaches close by and plenty of opportunity to have walks by the sea. So many cafes and restaurants to have a drink/lunch and laze away the afternoon. We enjoyed a charming carriage ride around Chania, as a huge animal lover it was lovely to see how well the horses are cared for by their proud owners and we wanted to support this. Our house felt like home for our 1 week stay, immaculately clean, brilliant use of space and beautiful interior decor. Maria and her husband were so helpful and a very tasty home cooked meal was much appreciated after a long day travelling. Brilliant !!

You won’t be disappointed

Deziree is centrally located in Old Town, perfectly positioned to stroll to the many restaurants. Maria goes above in her communication and to help where she can. We can not speak highly enough of Maria, although we didn’t get the chance to meet in person. The accommodation is exactly as shown and is beautifully decorated. It was a little cosy with 4 adults in the living area, but did not cause us an issue. All the extra touches make you feel special. Make sure you go the recommendations in Maria’s guide book that she has has supplied. As mentioned by other guests, it has three levels, and is an effort to carry up suitcases, but don’t let that deter you! Definitely would recommend and hope to return one day.

Winterurlaub in der Altstadt von Chania

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt im Haus von Maria, es war sehr schön dort. Das Haus ist nicht nur sehr schön, sondern auch sehr geschmackvoll und liebevoll eingerichtet. Es befindet sich in einer exzellenten Lage in der Altstadt. Es gibt keinen Durchgangsverkehr und es ist sehr ruhig, nur ein paar Schritte zum Hafen. Dank der sehr guten Empfehlungen und Vorschläge von Maria haben wir auch sehr gute Restaurants, Bars und Cafés in der Nähe zu Fuß gefunden.Zum Haus gehört ein privater Parkplatz, so konnten wir tagsüber bequem Ausflüge in die Umgebung machen.Wir hatten Dank unserer Gastgeberin, die sich sehr gut um uns gekümmer hat, einen sehr schönen Urlaub und können das reizende Haus in der Altstadt von Chania nur empfehlen.

Amazing, clean, and responsive

Maria was an incredible host. She was communicative, friendly, offered suggestions, even had delicious food and wine waiting for us when we arrived which was a life saver after a long flight. She made our trip to Chania all the better, and we can’t thank her enough.
