About this property
Delightful Classic Farmhouse With Gorgeous Views
Our charming c. 1784 farmhouse has fantastic pastoral views with fields, rolling hills, sweeping skies and is close to hiking, skiing, restaurants, shopping, art & culture. You'll love the farmhouse because its sun-filled rooms have a gracious aesthetic, which takes you back to simpler times. Our place is located on a quiet country road. We look forward to hosting you! Susan and Aaron
This is a beautiful home in a country setting. Our place is perfect for a romantic get-away, travelers, families, artists, girl's weekend, business, a retreat, and for anybody looking for a charming comfortable place to experience country life for brief or extended stay. Enjoy an evening meal or tapas on the iconic large screened porch enjoying the sweeping views and peace. The porch also is great for yoga!
The gardens are lovely and fragrant: daffodils, lilacs, roses, honeysuckle, lilies, grapes, and apples scent the air from Spring to Fall! We have a small flock of free-range chickens on the farm and a cow in the pasture. There is even an ancient outhouse in the garden shed!
The farmhouse will provide you with plenty of privacy on 25 acres. The property is divided in half by a road, and we often work across the street in the artist's studio and also in the barn. You just might catch a passing glimpse of sculpture in the works as we come and go from across the street. Our 0wn residence is a mile and a half away. The rental is for the entire house. The barn is not part of the rental.
You won't want to leave! But if you do go exploring there is plenty to do in the nearby Monadnock Region, Lakes Region, White Mountains, and Seacoast. If you love hiking, there are easy hikes on nearby Temple, North Pack, Pack Monadnock, Winn, Lyndeborough and Rose Mountains, or Purgatory Falls, and for a challenge you’ll want to hike Mount Monadnock.
Historic Peterborough is just a short drive to fabulous restaurants, art galleries and boutique shopping.
The Milford "Oval" is a destination for dining and has several excellent restaurants to choose from. Artisan farm to table at Greenleaf, Wine and delightful food at Unwined, Great breakfast at The Riverside Cafe, Wood-fired Pizza at The Brickhouse.
Wilton is just a few minutes away. The Hilltop Cafe and Zizza's pizza are favorites. The "Wilton Town Hall Theater" is an independent theatre with classic movies and popcorn with real butter. The "Riverview Mill" showcases working artist studios and retail shops. "Carnival Hill" and "Frog Pond Conservation Area" are family-friendly for walking, hiking, snowshoeing, and sledding. "Frye's Measure Mill" produces and sells authentic Shaker boxes.
There are many local farmers markets. Our two favorites: Rosaly's in Sharon NH, and Trombly's in Milford.
The closest grocery store is Market Basket about 15 minutes away. There is a Village Store less than a mile down the road.
Ben's Sugar Shack and Maple Station Market, in Temple, sells maple syrup and groceries and has prepared foods and a deli. Also in Temple is The Root for great food!
Peterborough has several wonderful restaurants, some favorites are: Waterhouse (on the river,) diVine on Main, Coopershill, Harlow's Pub, Kogetsu, Pearl Restaurant & Oyster Bar.

About the host
Hosted by Susan Brown

We are both artists living and working in a small New Hampshire town with our two cats Pickle and Giacomo, some chickens and one rescued cow. Aaron is a musician and sculptor and I am a painter and yoga teacher. We both are writers and have books in process. Our property is a great place to get away, relax and get creative.
What makes this property unique
The property has a peaceful magic, that is conducive to relaxation, creativity and connecting with people. The house is filled with inspiring artwork: paintings and sculpture. There is a piano for the musically inclined, and great acoustics! The pastoral views are like paintings themselves! Taking in the natural beauty from the large screened-in porch is the perfect spot to enjoy refreshments with friends and family.
