About this property

Private lakeside hideaway, 4 bedroom one-story home with stunning water views.

Tucked away at the end of a private dirt road, The Hogan is a true escape. Built in 1960 this mid-century design summer home blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Towering pines and weathered granite boulders cradle the property, while the blue waters of Sebago stretch out just beyond its doorstep.

The Hogan is designed to take full advantage of its east-facing views, welcoming the morning sun as it rises over the lake and the properties sweeping cove. The home is a single-story house, thoughtfully divided into two wings—one for gathering, the other for sleep—both connected by a spacious screened-in porch.

The heart of the house is its open living space, where walls of glass frame the ever-changing lake and flood the room with natural light. A large, fully equipped kitchen flows into the dining area, perfect for family meals and long, lingering evenings with friends. The main living room, outfitted with plush leather couches and cozy chairs, is an ideal place to unwind and take in sweeping views of lake and sky. A second living room sits just beyond the main living room, offering extra space to stretch out.

On the living side of the house, the primary bedroom features a queen-sized bed and an en-suite bath. The other 3 bedrooms are on the sleeping wing of The Hogan.

PROPERTY
The Hogan sits on a pristine stretch of Sebago’s shoreline, where towering pines, wild ferns, and sun-dappled pathways create a peaceful retreat in perfect harmony with nature. A short, winding trail—just 75 feet from the house to the lake—leads through a landscape of green, opening up to the water’s edge.

At the shore, a large 10' x 36' deck is perched right above the lake, offering a front-row seat to Sebago’s ever-changing beauty. The deck is lined with loungers and a table for eating. From here, a well-maintained staircase leads down to a long dock that extends into our private cove. The cove is a tucked away oasis, with 400 feet of private shoreline and crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming, floating, and soaking in the summer sun. A floating raft just beyond the dock invites sunbathers and swimmers alike to drift the day away.

Next to the deck, a firepit area overlooks the lake, with a long bench providing plenty of space for gathering under the stars. As the sun sets and the sky deepens into night, the fire’s glow extends the day’s warmth—no city lights, just the brilliance of the Milky Way and the occasional shooting star. Hammocks sway between the trees surrounding the home and deck, offering yet another place to slow down and take it all in.

The Hogan’s property isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place to connect with the rhythms of the lake and the woods, to savor the quiet, and to embrace the simple, timeless magic of Maine.

THE BEDROOMS
Located on the sleeping wing of the Hogan
The bedroom wing of The Hogan is a private retreat, set apart from the main living area to offer quiet and seclusion. A long hallway connects three thoughtfully arranged bedrooms and a shared bathroom, creating a peaceful space for rest after a day spent on the lake.
Two of the bedrooms sit on the lakeside, where windows frame water views. At night, the sounds of Sebago’s gentle waves fill the rooms, lulling guests to sleep. The third bedroom, tucked on the driveway side, offers a different kind of serenity, with its windows opening to a view of the surrounding woods—creating a cozy, tucked-away feel.
Each bedroom is designed for comfort and relaxation. Two of the rooms feature queen beds, while the third is outfitted with twin beds—ideal for children or guests. The thoughtful separation of this wing from the rest of the house allows for privacy, making it the perfect space for an afternoon nap with the windows open to the breeze or a restful night’s sleep under the Maine sky.
Beyond the three bedrooms on the sleeping wing, there is a master bedroom and bathroom on the living wing of the Hogan.

Why they chose this property

The Hogan and land its sits on is peaceful, private, manicured yet wild, fully connected to nature and the perfect escape from the modern day world.

What makes this property unique

The Hogan, a summer home on Sebago Lake, was built in 1960 by our grandfather, Bud Dennen. But the story begins decades earlier, rooted in a deep love for Sebago Lake and a vision that shaped
generations to come.

Fifty-four years before the Hogan broke ground along Sebago’s shoreline, Bud’s father, E.J. Dennen—the Archdeacon of Boston—set out to explore the rugged wilderness of Maine. He dreamed of finding the perfect landscape to create a traditional summer camp, a place where city kids could experience the transformative power of nature over an entire summer. In 1906, he found that place on the
western shores of Sebago Lake and founded Camp O-AT-KA, a camp that thrives to this day. For the rest of his life, E.J. dedicated his summers to building and nurturing the camp, serving as its owner, director, and guiding force. His mission was clear: to provide boys the opportunity to grow, learn, and connect with the outdoors during their formative years.

Growing up immersed in this world, Bud spent his summers at O-AT-KA alongside his father and mother, forging his own deep
connection to Sebago. When the time came, he decided to create a summer retreat of his own—a place just beyond the camp’s
border, where he could continue the family’s tradition of summertime lakeside living. And so, the Hogan was born.
