About this property

Design-Led Glamping Escape Near Yosemite

Summary:

This is not a hotel or campground—it’s a retreat. Tucked into a vast private landscape near Yosemite, our modern Airstreams are designed for guests who value space, beauty, and calm. Wake to quiet mornings, explore during the day, and return to sunsets, firelight, and uninterrupted views.

The Space:

Set across 440 acres of private Sierra foothills, Mariposa Highlands offers a rare sense of scale, quiet, and intentional design—just beyond the edge of Yosemite’s gravity.

Each luxury Airstream is thoughtfully positioned to preserve privacy, views, and a deep connection to the surrounding landscape. Inside, modern materials and soft curves create a calm, uncluttered retreat: a queen bed dressed in hotel-quality linens, a streamlined kitchenette for simple meals, and a spa-inspired bathroom with a full, walk-in shower. Panoramic windows frame oak-dotted hillsides and fill the space with natural light from morning through dusk.

Outdoors, your private deck extends the living space into nature. Mornings are quiet and unhurried—coffee in hand, wildlife moving through the distance. Evenings invite firelight, open skies, and the kind of stillness that’s increasingly hard to find. A private BBQ and fire pit make it easy to settle in and stay present as the light fades and stars emerge.

Guests are free to explore miles of private trails across the property or use Mariposa Highlands as a refined basecamp for the region. Yosemite’s iconic landscapes lie within reach, while nearby lakes offer a slower counterpoint—water, sun, and space to roam.

This is not a campground. It’s a deliberately quiet, design-forward retreat created for guests who value privacy, landscape, and understated comfort—where the experience feels expansive, grounded, and unforced.

Guest Access:

🅿️ You'll have one dedicated parking spot right next to your airstream, Super convenient for unloading and settling in with ease.

The Neighborhood:

🗺️ Getting Around & Local Recommendations

For basic essentials, the nearest spots are Dollar General and Don Pedro Valero Market (a gas station mini-mart), both just about 11 minutes away. They’re perfect for grabbing quick items like snacks, drinks, or toiletries, but not ideal for full grocery runs. We recommend picking up your favorite staples before arriving.

🍽️ Closest Restaurant:

☑️ Mineshaft Pizza – A local favorite for casual eats, just as close as Dollar General (around 11 mins away).

🥾 Local Trails & Outdoor Spots:

☑️ Mariposa Highlands Trails (on property) – Enjoy peaceful walks with beautiful views of Lake McClure, right outside your Airstream.

☑️ Bagby Recreation Area – Perfect for river access and scenic views, approx. 20 mins away.

☑️ Lake McClure Trails – Serene lakeside paths for hiking or biking.

☑️ Stockton Creek Preserve (Mariposa) – A shaded, family-friendly trail system about 30 mins away.

🍴 More Dining Options Nearby:

☑️ Coulter Café & General Store – Cozy breakfast spot with great coffee and baked goods (15 mins away).

☑️ Happy Burger Diner (Mariposa) – Classic American diner with a huge menu (25–30 mins away).

☑️ 1850 Restaurant – Elevated dining experience in Mariposa with local wines and seasonal dishes.

Other Things to Note:

Mariposa Highlands is designed as a quiet, low-density retreat. Our setting, scale, and pacing are intentional and may not be the right fit for every traveler. Guests who appreciate privacy, open land, and a slower rhythm tend to find the experience especially rewarding.

The property spans 440 acres of natural Sierra foothills, where the land itself is part of the experience. Guests may encounter a small herd of miniature Highland cattle grazing across the property, along with free-ranging chickens that reflect the working rhythm of the land. These moments are unforced and observational—quiet encounters that feel authentic to the setting rather than staged.

Miles of private hiking and biking trails weave through the property, offering elevated views across foothills, lakes, and open valleys. Whether walking at sunrise or riding through golden-hour light, the landscape unfolds gradually, rewarding those who take the time to explore.

While each accommodation is fully appointed for comfort, the experience is rooted in landscape and setting rather than proximity to town conveniences. Evening skies are dark, nights are quiet, and wildlife is part of the environment.

We prioritize a peaceful atmosphere across the property. This is not a party destination, and gatherings, amplified music, or disruptive behavior are not permitted. Quiet hours are observed in the evenings to preserve the shared experience of stillness and night sky.

Weather, terrain, and seasonal conditions are part of the experience. Guests should expect natural ground surfaces, occasional dust, and changing conditions typical of a rural foothill environment. These elements are not curated away—they are part of the authenticity of the setting.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome with advance approval. A pet fee applies to support additional cleaning and land stewardship in a natural environment.

Cancellations follow a firm policy, reflecting the limited number of accommodations and the highly intentional nature of the experience. We recommend booking only when travel plans are certain.

Mariposa Highlands is best suited for guests seeking space, design, and a genuine connection to place—rather than traditional hotel amenities or a conventional campground experience.

Rates reflect the scale of the land, the privacy of each stay, and access to hundreds of acres of private trails and landscape.

For laundry, There isn’t a guest laundry facility available, so we recommend planning ahead if you think you’ll need one during your stay. 🙏
