This was our second year at the chip lodge. we liked it so much the first year that we had to come back. the first year we showed up there was maybe 15 people and the house easily accommodated us. its a rustic vibe. things are old and perhaps that is the charm and what we like about it. the highlight for us is definitely the slow cruises on the pontoon boat as we explored the lake. The kitchen is huge and designed to feed a lot of people. Gary is a nice guy. He lives right next door which is helpful if you have any questions about the lake, boats, lures, fishing, and everything else. The view from the large deck is exceptional. Enjoy your stay here. I'd recommend this place for any large group.

Great place on a wonderful lake

Building is old but it had everything we needed for cooking, fishing, tubing, and relaxing. Access to the bar was a hit with the kids. Owner was easy to work with and a great host.

Ice fishing

Rustic lodge with a nice view of Moore’s bay. Having your own bar is great, spent most of our time off the ice hangin at the bar.

Great fishing destination

Great location on a great big body of water that provided great fishing (once getting really good tips from Gary and local bait store) Really good conveniences on site like piers, firewood live minnows, fish cleaning house! The cabin is old school and very rustic. The bar is cool as is the deck. Gary the owner was extremely nice and friendly. All the fishing conveniences you could ask for! We will be back

Gary, the owner, is great to work with and very accommodating. The building is old and very rustic. It needs some work. It’s a fisherman's cabin. I took my sons and grandsons there for a long fishing weekend, for that it was good. I’m not sure my wife would have liked it, but for us it worked out well. It’s like walking into an early 1900’s lodge. We had to bring our own towels, which I would have preferred to not have done. Outside of the cabin is a car port that is filled with stuff and junk all over the place, that you look at when you walk outside. The dock is old and looks like it is going to collapse. If you’re looking for a fishing cabin that accommodates 10 people it will work for you.

Girls weekend

View was amazing. Cabin was interesting. We had a awesome time. The 15 seat bar is actually in your cabin. Not an active bar anymore but very cool. No bars in walking distance that were open. It was early November so i am sure most resort bars close down.

Amazing Place for an Up North Vacation

The lodge/cabin was everything you would want for an old Northwoods Wisconsin feel. So much history on the walls and on the bar. The bar had an amazing view of the lake, as did the deck and the fire pit. It might be a little on the rustic side for some, but it was perfect for us and exactly what one should expect from an old Northwoods cabin. The place was very room and had everything one would need for a big group and the easy access to the piers were great for keeping my boat close. Gary is an amazing host as well. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. It was great to hear more from him about the property and the area. We would love to come back again in the future.

Beds and Bugs

There were 8 beds for 8 guys. That was the good part. Everyone said the beds came with the place, many, many years ago and should be replaced immediately. Flies and Asian Beetles and stinging wasps were very annoying. Had to walk around with a fly swatter constantly. I guess you get what you pay for.

Big Chip Lodge

We had a great time at the Big Chip Lodge. It was very roomy for two families. Gary was very responsive and helpful in making suggestions in and around the area. We were able to rent a boat and dock it right outside the lodge making daily boat rides perfect. The kids loved fishing on the dock, going for a canoe ride and running around, while the adults enjoyed playing bags in the back yard in the early evening. The bar is great for hanging out at the end of the day....we all had a great time playing cards at night. The cell and internet service isn’t the best, but being somewhat disconnected was a nice break to enjoy being on vacay with friends and family. Thanks for a great time Gary!!

needs a lot of cleaning and TLC

Bathrooms, kitchen, bedding were clean. rodent in kitchen got into bread and bagged stuff. dead bat in bedroom, spiders and cobwebs, shower in bad shape. Great bar and deck, lots of room. lawn needed mowing and trimming to keep skeeters down. Smelled like bats. Great place for men to go fishing and hanging out- women and children, not so much.
