CAJUN HOSPITALITY - LA PETITE VOIE DE ST. THERESE

Mission Statement;
My mission is to bear witness to my Cajun Christian Faith in the awesomeness of God, who created us, Jesus, who saved us, and the Holy Spirit who nourishes our soul with everlasting LOVE. The meaning of La Petite Voie - The Little Way means that one's way of Life must choose to follow the Heart of Jesus which is Love.

I am a direct descendant of the original Acadian people. My ancestors were deported from Nova Scotia to France. The Spanish government transported Acadian exiles from France to Louisiana on the ship 'Le Saint Remi,' and arriving in Louisiana on September 9, 1785. I was raised in a family of seven children. As the oldest daughter, I helped my parents with the younger children, and in the family business. In high school I was a cheerleader, a band member, and in 1960 I was crowned the 1st Crawfish Queen in my hometown of Breaux Bridge. I love Cajun music, singing (Acadiana French Choir for twenty years) cooking, gardening, and flower arranging. I have five beautiful children, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. I enjoy speaking Cajun French and love meeting people.
It is with true devotion that I invite you to 'La Petite Voie de St. Thérèse' knowing full well that you will feel the Spirit of Peace, Love, Serenity and Tranquility.

'La Petite Voie de St. Thérèse' is a unique and peaceful Cajun Country getaway in a fully restored Acadian built house in a pastoral setting not far from Breaux Bridge (3.5 miles to downtown), Lafayette and St. Martinville (7.5 miles to Tourist Center). A perfect place to experience the food, music, culture, faith and "Joie de Vivre - Joy of Living" of the Cajun People. 'La Petite Voie de St. Thérèse' is unique to this area as it captures the heart and soul of the Acadians that struggled to bring families to a land of milk and honey – where they could pray, work and live together in harmony. 'La Petite Voie de St. Thérèse' is situated on 2.5 acres of ancestral farm land near Bayou Teche in the heart of Acadiana. It is located on Highway 31, near Pont Breaux (Breaux Bridge), a quaint downtown area with antique shops and great food. Then to the charming town of Parks, next to the historic city of St. Martinville, the birthplace of Acadiana. Take the gateway to Southwest Louisiana to see for yourself why so many visitors say, “Joie de Vivre – Joy of Living” lives in Acadiana.

In June 1985, my mother gave me two and a half acres of property that belonged to her grandfather, Renee Chauffe, Sr. It was through the grace of God that I stumbled onto an old house built by Andre' Boudreaux in 1935. I was taken by surprise when in the house there was a picture of Sacred Heart of Jesus. It captured the beauty of my Christian Faith, it said “Christ Wants Your Heart”. I knew instantly that this house was very special. In 1989, I began remodeling it with the understanding that one day I would love to tell the story of how the Lord played such an important role in my life. I bought the house for three thousand dollars and moved it to “La Campagne”. My uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and family, including the main carpenters Kip Cormier, Stuart Green and Ray Theriot helped me find peace in my simple Cajun House.

'La Petite Voie de St. Thérèse' is a fully restored Acadian Home with three bedrooms, two full baths, a modern kitchen, dining room, parlor/sitting room, and a music/entertainment room. The home accommodates six people comfortably with a full kitchen, and a dining area The 'St. Therese' bedroom features an antique full-size bed with matching vanity and a Birdseye Maple armoire. It has a connecting bathroom with an antique tub and a separate full-sized shower. The 'St. Mary' bedroom has a Mahogany queen size bed with a Mahogany Armoire and vanity with a connecting full bath with an antique tub/shower. The 'Evangeline' bedroom features a white iron single bed with a vanity and armoire. A small box of Coty powder is placed on each bedroom vanity like I remember it in the Chauffe Family House. The foyer and the living area are really quite charming and there you will enjoy TV, Wi-Fi, music, videos, and Acadian books (Deportation of Acadians from Nova Scotia).

A large wrap-around porch with a swing and rocking chairs provides the ideal setting for enjoying outdoor pleasures, such as a large outdoor patio with a grill, Azaleas, Sugar Cane fields, Pecan, Oak, Cypress, Golden Rain, Bradford Pear and Magnolia trees. There is a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that comes from the Convent in Grand Coteau and a statue of St. Therese, my patron saint, given by my Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults students.

I am so proud of my Acadian heritage and so thankful that my mother and father gave me a piece of history. Come to experience Cajun Country hospitality and a retreat away from home.

Amazing place and stay in every way

We stayed 4 nights. I had great memories of the area while at Ft Polk in the 1964 - 1966 time and wanted to see it again. That part of Louisiana was my favorite and still is. And we picked an amazing place to spend 4 days. And a great host.We highly recommend.

Country Heaven

We had a gorgeous and peaceful stay at Miss Emma’s home ❤️ she is a wonderful host and a lovely lady. She treated us like family. Her home was so beautiful and quiet and we loved sitting on the porch swing every night. What a step back in time! And the beautiful, old oak trees in the yard! Come stay with Miss Emma!❤️

A private retreat

A lovely, spacious and quiet home. There was lots of room to be comfortable in and big porches to relax on. Ms Emmaline is a gracious hostess who makes wonderful cakes. If you are searching for a place to get away from it all, this fills the bill.

Outstanding in every way!

My family was attending a four day Festival in Lafayette. This home was perfect for us to get away from city crowds, yet close enough to make for an easy drive. The property was beautiful, charming, and relaxing. The host was very responsive throughout our stay, and had even left us cake and sandwiches. This so far has been my favorite rental property, and I travel quite a bit, so that says a lot!

Cajun Country Home

We had a wonderful stay. Emmaline, Charlie and Michael were excellent hosts. They were always available for any questions about the property. They had a wealth of knowledge about the area and the state of Louisiana. The country setting was great. Yet it was close to town for groceries, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, etc. They truly made us feel welcome and at home. MERCI BEAUCOUP!

Great place to unwind

We are originally from Parks, LA. We decided to try out having our own space while visiting family. This place offered a place for us to allow our toddler to take naps and have place to play/run in between visiting family and friends. We will definitely be back.

It was quaint and full of surprises everywhere you looked. Very relaxing. Great food in area.

Lots of history to learn about the area. Emmiline had extensive knowledge of where to go to find delicious food. She was friendly and welcoming. We had 3 couples and accommodations were great. The house had lots of character and antiques. All of us were very comfortable. This was our first experience with VRBO and I will do it again!

Wonderful place to stay

This is a wonderful place to stay. The house and grounds are beautiful, gracious and very comfortable for our group of five. The house is a vision of the past, like stepping back into old Louisiana, with beautiful antiques, a wrap around porch, lovely roses, well kept gardens and sugar cane fields nearby. Emmaline, the owner and hostess is a delight, very accomodating, a very good cook, and alot of fun to talk to. Thank you, Emmaline, for a wonderful stay. We will be back!!!

Loved the wrap-around porch!! Tea on that porch drunk from an actual teacup was an experience I shall remember for some time. Delightful! The dirt road between cane fields was good for jogging and the property is near Lake Martin. Meeting Emmaline was very much a highlight--gracious host, very accommodating.

This is an authentic Cajun home with a rich and personal history that features traditional details all lovingly maintained. Great weekend get away... or longer.

This place was great... first of all, I have stayed in several B&B and never stayed in one this clean........The house was very interesting, with lots of interesting pieces(antiques), for the time period. If you love the outdoors and are into nature, this is the place for you. Emma, was delightful, the little town was quaint with great food, swamp tours and a fine place to do NOTHING on the patio, porch. Had a wonderful time with 3 girls who grew up together, but great place to take family for some family time... thank you Emma.

An Excellent Getaway!

Had a wonderful girl's getaway at this house that is so full of history and culture. We made our own family memories, enjoyed the local seafood and found our ancestor's names on the Acadian Memorial wall. Have NEVER had such a sweet, accommodating hostess in any of our travels. If you are tired of "cookie cutter" impersonal hotels, try La Petite Voie de St. Therese for a rare home-away-from-home experience. Other VRBO facilities should take lessons from Ms. Emmaline!

Book NOW! It’s amazing 😁

Unfortunately our stay was not a vacation, but for the passing of my mom. This house spoke to me the moment I saw photos and I HAD to stay here. It ends up being my grandmother’s 1st cousin and his lovely wife that own the home…so amazing how God put us exactly where we needed to be. The house and yard are beautiful and peaceful. We also enjoyed the fresh cake and macaroni casserole that was for us! A true gem of a home and the owners.

Girls Trip

Went on a girls trip and so enjoyed our weekend at this lovely cottage. There were four of us and we enjoyed sitting in the parlor or on the patio catching up and telling stories from our time growing up together. Emma was an excellent host furnishing us with chicken salad sandwiches and chocolate cake. She also had cereal, milk and so many other things for us to enjoy. Her cottage is lovely. Very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer.

A Beautiful Home, A Gracious Host

This was my first VRBO experience, and I'm ready for more! Six of stayed in this beautifully maintained home while in the area for a family wedding. Emmaline could not have been more welcoming and gracious, beginning with her signature chicken salad sandwiches and cake. I was impressed by how well the kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with what we might need. One of my favorite features was the wrap-around porch where I enjoyed sitting in the morning with a cup of coffee, gazing at the lovely, peaceful surroundings.

Wonderful location, beauty and comfort

Myself and a friend rented this Bed and Breakfast while she was in the states. The place was decorated for Christmas and provided a wonderful feeling of home. We were able to relax and enjoy the time we had to catch up, eat our way through Lafayette and Breaux Bridge along with all the great Cajun and Zydeco music one can expect from the area. Emmaline was a fabulous hostess and the hospitality was the best I have had in the many bed and breakfast locations I have stayed. I would recommend anyone stay and enjoy the comforts of a warm and entitling place where you can relax after a wonderful day of shopping eating and dancing your way around the area. And if the weather is nice take a boat ride through the bayous that was so much fun.
