About this property
Gänsetrappe - romantic dreamy holiday home with land for single use
Dear guests, if you share our love for patina, the beauty of old furniture and the warmth of wood stoves, you are in good hands here in our listed former farmhouse, with its original spatial structure.
Our aim was to make the former residents' attitude to life a little tangible through consistent historical furniture.
Last but not least, the wooden floorboards, the old beams and the clay plaster on the wall and ceiling support the cozy impression of the room.
Since we have retained the historical floor plan, the 100 m² of the holiday home are divided into many small, cozy rooms.
On the ground floor there is the kitchen with a wood stove, seating for 6 people but also an originally non-existent dishwasher.
Just behind the next door is a spacious slate-tiled bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Just a few steps up the old stairs and you enter the quaint living room with the old wooden floor and the modern TV. On the back you stumble into a small bedroom, which is the undisputed favorite when it comes to comfort, as it consists almost entirely of a room-wide bed.
If you crawl up the gently sloping staircase to the upper floor, you almost inevitably come across a second slate-tiled bathroom. This also corresponds to today's demands for comfort.
If you now follow the hallway just a few steps, you will enter two separate, cozy sleeping rooms located to the right and left of the stairs, which are charmingly completed by the adjoining dressing room.
Each bedroom has space for two people.
But long sleeper beware! Very tall people have to pull their legs a little at night. In a !!! the bedroom has an old double bed (with a new mattress) in the outside dimensions 195 x 180 cm. The two other beds have the usual dimensions of 200 x 160 cm.
When the first rays of sun come up after a good night's sleep, let yourself be tempted by the in-house garden for a morning breakfast in the open air, and later, after a successful day of your vacation, sip a glass of wine in your hand under a dreamy star tent from the day to adopt.
Dear guests, this house was built in 1687 by a simple farming family using the building materials and techniques available at that time to have a roof over their heads. At that time, there was not yet a claim to perfection that was normalized. Rather, the building was characterized by functionality. Dryness in the rain and a warm room in the winter and of course the smoked floor should not be missing.
We did not remove the flair of the house, which 300 years before our birth, when princes ruled the country, the last witches were burned and the USA had not yet been founded and the Palace of Versailles had just been completed to renovate today's status. Rather, it receives a guard here that is very similar to the past, with traces from centuries that we have never experienced.
The house never claimed perfection. We tried to preserve his dignity as far as we could. Of course we had to make compromises, in the end it was our goal to receive guests, to bring the past closer to them without neglecting to feel good.
The goose staircase, originally the Ballenstedter drove their geese out of the city onto the meadows and meadows outside the city walls, lies lonely at the end of a cul-de-sac and thus offers the peace and quiet that is so important on vacation.
However, if you should feel like exploring the surrounding area, the attractive Harz landscape offers a wide range of options for actively organizing your vacation. Whether you choose to hike to the Hexentanzplatz, the Roßtrappe or the Brocken or stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage City of Quedlinburg, play golf in Meisdorf or dive into the Albertine outdoor pool, you will be amazed.
