About this property

Highland Cottage; a peaceful, cozy studio near Lake Shasta

Experience a taste of country living and escape the everyday in this rustic studio guest house. A perfect place for a quiet retreat.

Nestled into the hillside along a rural country road, enjoy the peace of country living within easy reach of all the North State has to offer.

Soak in the serenity of the guest cottage, gaze out the large windows across the yard. In the evening the sound of crickets fills the air and a view of the stars is just outside your door.

The cottage is an older building with tons of character but there is no running water in the space. You'll always have access to your private bathroom which is at the back of the main house. The detached bathroom is just 15 steps away with a large stall shower, sink and toilet; it’s in the mud room/ laundry area which is separated from the main house by a closed door.

With 400 square feet of rustic living space and Mid-Century modern style architecture the cottage is a gem. Sleep on the cozy upper level of the studio near the wood burning stove in the winter and stay cool in the summer with the mini split air conditioner. Cotton sheets are comfortable anytime of the year. New memory foam mattress!

Enjoy the the high ceilings, stained glass and dry bar on the lower level surrounded by windows. The dry bar includes a microwave, mini fridge, cups & wine glasses, coffee maker/ kurig, and electric water kettle.

The Cottage is ideally positioned at the top of the Sacramento Valley. Lassen National Park and Mount Shasta are just an hour’s drive away. Whiskeytown Lake and Lake Shasta are great for fishing, boating, kayaking and paddle boarding. The area is full of mountain biking and hiking trails. Find pickleball courts just down the road or in Redding. This is a perfect hub for all your outdoor adventures!

Vizio smart TV with HDMI; hundreds of movies, shows and music at your fingertips.

Located at the back of the main house the cottage is tucked away from the street and the property is fully fenced and gated. Off street parking is inside the gate.

The cottage is hypoallergenic and equipped with a purifier that keeps the air clean and free of pollutants! As much as we love our furry friends we don’t accept animals, even service animals due to acute allergies.

Fireplace use is limited to November through April. One Duraflame log is provided, please do not use the firewood.

We keep indoor spaces animal free for our guests with allergies.
Other things to note:
Street parking is very limited, please park in the designated space inside the gated driveway. There is not parking for oversized vehicles (full size pickup trucks are fine) or trailers. Please do not drive or park in the grass.

Digger Bay Marina is located at the end of the road, approximately 3 miles from our property. Boat launch and trailer parking is available at Digger Bay for $25/ day. Moorage at Digger Bay is $50/ day (subject to availability)

The cottage is in a rural location and although we have regular pest control and clean thoroughly between guests insects are not uncommon.
