About this property
Barn Hollow Farm - Peaceful four bedroom farmhouse in Barnard, VT
Enjoy relaxing in this unique family farmhouse. Situated on a 25-acres this home is a step back in time. Built in 1815 in Nova Scotia, this home was meticulously rebuilt on this tranquil spot in Vermont. Showcased in Early American Life magazine this is a one-of-a-kind home. Updated with modern amenities, like a chef's kitchen, AC, radiant floor heating & hot tub, it still holds historical charm. 20 minutes from Saskadena Six ski resort, 27 miles from Killington & 7 miles from Woodstock. With 25 acres of farmland to explore on the property, you have plenty of relaxing options. Enjoy a hike down to a picnic area by the largest of three beaver ponds which adorn the far side of the property line. Often the home of all sorts of ducks and geese. You can also check out the newly planted little vineyard along the way. You can grill dinner on the Weber charcoal grill, or just soak in the cedar hot tub and take in the views that go on for miles.
When you enter this center chimney cape you arrive in what was the original kitchen and dining room of the house (back in the 1800s). Today it is the entrance room with a great reading nook. On the same floor is the large master bedroom with a king bed, fireplace, sitting area, and full bath. There is also the main living room which is meant to be free from distractions. Spin a record, and enjoy the comfortable seating and another fireplace. There is also a small bedroom with a twin bed off the living room. Perfect for a nursery or overflow. Downstairs, level with the back of the house is the large chef kitchen with LaCornue stove, farm kitchen table, pantry, and adjoining living area with TV. This room also has a Vermont Castings wood stove to help keep you toasty. The third floor consists of two bedrooms. First is a walk-through room with two queen beds and a half bath. The other bedroom has two full beds and a fireplace. This is an antique home and the stairs are steeper than typical homes built today with lower than usual head clearance . Please keep this in mind for people with mobility issues. The large barn is also accessible. There is wood available next to each fireplace, but plenty more is stored in the entry area of the large barn. You will also find sleds, snowshoes and a portable fire pit, as well as yard games for summer.
