About this property

Enchanting waterfront cottage! Dock, boat ramp! Surrounded by tupelo & cypress!

Your cozy getaway awaits along this lagoon's deep-water tributary of the Apalachicola River 20 minutes south of Bristol, Florida! The whispering cypress and tupelo trees tell stories of a century-old fish camp alive with laughter, friendship, and the rhythm of river life. Honey Hole Fish Camp offers the perfect blend of rustic elegance, natural beauty and superb fishing right off your own private dock! If you prefer fishing from your boat, you have access to miles of riverfront via your own private boat ramp.

Though the original camp has faded into history, its spirit has been lovingly re-imagined here for couples, family, or friends. The cottage interior consists of handcrafted cypress that was milled from the very trees that grow in the river lagoon nearby. A picturesque boardwalk, private dock and private boat ramp offers direct access to the serene river lagoon and deep-water tributary. The expansive lawn with sweeping views is perfect for yard games and kids to play.

The charming 1-bedroom, (queen for two guests) 1-bath cottage is complete with a full kitchen, dining area, and welcoming living room with two 75" Smart TVs, (with Starlink), and views of the lagoon below. The living room has two daybeds with trundle sleep options allowing for sleeping arrangements of four guests.

The covered "Reception Barn" includes a full bathroom and washer and dryer. One of the most valued features in Honey Hole Fish Camp is the 36-foot long bar area with an 85" Smart TV, (with Starlink). The barn comes equipped with a stainless steel kitchen sink and counter, along with the "Grilling Station" consisting of two charcoal "swivel" grills, and even a smoker that has been adapted for a grilling option!

Whether you’re unwinding after a day of exploring or enjoying quiet moments, this fantastic cottage provides a welcoming retreat. Recharge your senses, relationship, or family with this serene natural setting framed by the beauty of old growth cypress and tupelos, along with the gentle sights and sounds of the river.

We're happy to assist with any questions before, during your stay at our cottage, and after. Please contact Glenn and Lawson Smith to help us arrange your escape to this magical place!

About the host

Hosted by Glenn and Lawson Smith

Host profile image
Glenn grew up in Tallahassee while Lawson and her family are from neighboring Gadsden County, having arrived in the mid 1800s from South Carolina to start farming. Glenn spent his career in the travel industry since 1979, followed by managing short-term and long-term rental properties across the Panhandle.

Lawson is a longtime educator for nearly 40 years, and currently serves as an administrator at Community Christian School in Tallahassee.

We own the 12-acre Sweet Tupelo campground directly on the Apalachicola River 6 minutes north of Honey Hole Fish Camp. When Honey Hole Fish Camp became available in 2025 we knew that this historic and spectacular property could be recreated into something beautiful for all to enjoy.

We're now excited to share this retreat as a event/wedding venue and to couples or families as a Vrbo vacation rental home within 60 days when not rented for an event.

Glenn and Lawson are blessed with 5 adult children, of which 3 are married, along with 3 grandchildren.

Why they chose this property

Honey Hole Fish Camp is a place where history, family, and nature come together again. Bordered by literally thousands of acres of forest, pasture for Florida Cracker cattle, and cypress swamps and waterways.

What makes this property unique

There's no other place that takes you back to a simpler time, surrounded by tupelo and cypress trees with a view of the lagoon from the cottage above. The view and site is mesmerizing and uniquely magical!
