About this property
Holiday house Montagudet for 1 - 4 persons with 2 bedrooms - Holiday house
ED Refnr. 2768387
Our pigeonnier (pigeon house) is located in Montagudet. Here, at the very back of the Valromane, lies the peacock farm, in the centre of the magnificent region of south-western Quercy. The road ends after our small country estate. The peacock farm and the 3 hectares of pastureland belonging to it are populated by 3 donkeys, 5 cats, 2 dogs and 6 peacocks. 2 dogs: a French mongrel and a large Great Dane. They are very friendly and affectionate!
The Pigeonnier, our guest house There are 2 rooms in the tower of the former pigeon house. The living room next to the tower offers plenty of space for 4 people. Behind the new, well-equipped kitchen there is a toilet, washbasin and shower. The guest house has free WLAN access. You can enjoy breakfast to the full on the magnificent sun terrace with pergola and views over the entire wild and romantic valley! You can enjoy the evening sun at the bistro table in the garden on the "village square". The former pigeon house is fully equipped for our guests. In the tower room upstairs there is a double bed (200 x 180 cm), below it a bedroom with two single beds (190 x 90 cm), the living room with adjoining kitchen is generously sized for 4 people and has a large dining table for 6 people. In addition to the air conditioning, there is a cosy fireplace and access to the magnificent terrace. The kitchen is also equipped with a modern electric 4 ring hob and an equally new oven, microwave, dishwasher and an expresso machine. The fenced pool is just a few steps away and it is a short walk to the Lac du Polonais, which is also located on the property.
Dining The beautiful old solid wood table seats up to 6 people, naturally with matching high-quality cutlery and crockery.
The bedroom on the ground floor The light-flooded room has 2 beds (190 x 95 cm), it is located directly below the tower room and is connected to it by a staircase.
The tower room Lie back on the 1.80 m x 2.00 m family bed and look up into the roof truss. You'll feel like you're in the Middle Ages - only much, much more comfortable!
When you enter the house from our "village square", you will find yourself in a wonderful location that is almost all yours! The pergola-covered terrace with its magnificent view is equipped with a new table and chairs for 4 people, and the child-proof fenced pool (7.5 x 12.5 m) with sunbathing area and sun loungers is all yours! Behind it is a children's playground the size of a football pitch with a petanque court. On the opposite side of our "village square" is a small, open games room with a games table (cards, poker etc.), darts and lots of toys. Down in our valley is the private "nature reserve", the Lac du Polonais, which was created almost 100 years ago by a Polish owner of the estate. On our very private zoo on the farm there are 2 dogs (a large Great Dane and a French special mix), they are all very affectionate and friendly, the 4 cats keep their distance, the 6 peacocks romp around the farm and retreat to the oak trees at night and the donkeys are either in the stable or in the pasture, they are also very affectionate and trusting.
With a bit of luck you can feel like Asterix and Obelix in the evening and watch the wild boars at our spring on the other side of the valley. Our animals (3 dogs, 2 cats and 7 peacocks) romp around on the "village square" and keep things busy. We love children and children love our peacock farm!
The extensive and overgrown oak forests with the old stone walls as fences around the former pastures, the ruins of old farmhouses and sod fountains invite you to go hiking right on your doorstep. Down in the valley, after 4 km, you will find the Way of St James and the pilgrim town of Lauzerte, which is one of the most beautiful villages in France (with restaurants, market and supermarket). Within a radius of 20 km you will find equally well-known places such as Montaigu du Quercy, Montcuq, Roquecor, the old monastery town of Moissac and Cahors with its beautiful vineyards.
