Lakefront Fun for All Seasons - Hot Tub, Firepit & Sleeps 21. Near Creeper Trail
Experience All Four Seasons at South Holston Lake
Lake days. Mountain views. Cozy fires. Hot tub nights. Welcome to your South Holston Lake getaway!
Escape to our beautiful lakefront lodge on South Holston Lake, tucked into the gorgeous Holston Mountains and surrounded by some of the best scenery East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia have to offer.
Whether you're planning a summer lake vacation, a colorful fall getaway, a cozy winter weekend, or a spring escape, there's truly something special about this home every season of the year.
Summer on the Lake
Summer is all about the WATER! Bring your boat or rent one nearby and spend your days boating, swimming, kayaking, fishing, or simply relaxing on the private dock.
Cruise the lake, visit nearby marinas, grab a bite at a lakeside restaurant, or head out to Cliff Island, a local favorite where adventurous kids and adults love jumping from the stone ledges into the beautiful clear water.
And when the sun goes down? Head back to the lodge for dinner on the deck, a soak in the hot tub, and a front-row seat to an incredible mountain sunset.
*Fishing requires a valid license.
Fall in the Mountains
Fall might just be one of our favorite times at the lake! The surrounding mountains come alive with beautiful autumn colors, making it the perfect season for hiking, biking, scenic drives, and exploring the nearby Virginia Creeper Trail.
After a day of adventure, come home and relax in the hot tub, gather around the fire pit, roast some s'mores, or cozy up by one of the lodge's stone fireplaces.
Cozy Winter Getaways
There's something magical about South Holston Lake in the winter.
Slow down, pour a cup of hot cocoa, light the gas logs in the stone fireplace, and enjoy the peaceful lake and mountain views. Spend the evening soaking in the hot tub under the stars, playing games, watching movies, and enjoying time together.
It's the perfect setting for a family gathering, friends' weekend, or simply escaping the hustle and bustle for a few days.
Spring Comes Alive
Spring brings fresh mountain air, blooming landscapes, and the return of beautiful days on the water. Explore the lake, hike or bike nearby trails, fish from the dock, or simply relax on the wraparound deck and watch the mountains turn green again.
Your Lakefront Lodge
Designed with families and groups in mind, our spacious lodge features 6 bedrooms + a dedicated bunk room and 4 bathrooms, giving everyone plenty of room to spread out while still enjoying time together.
You'll love:
* Two beautiful stone fireplaces with gas logs * Soaring A-frame wood ceilings in the great room * Huge windows overlooking South Holston Lake * A bright sunroom with gorgeous water views * Fully equipped kitchen for family meals * Wraparound deck with plenty of outdoor seating * Gas grill for cookouts * Hot tub overlooking the lake * Private dock for boating, fishing, swimming, and relaxing * Spacious den with Smart TVs * High-speed internet * Dedicated bunk room that sleeps **up to 9**—a favorite hangout for kids and teens!
Whether everyone gathers around the kitchen, stretches out in the great room, heads downstairs for a movie, or spends the evening outside overlooking the water, there's plenty of space to make yourself at home.
Bring a Boat—or Rent One!
One of the best ways to experience South Holston Lake is from the water. Several nearby marinas offer boat rentals, including:
**Sportsman's Marina** **Painter Creek Marina** **Laurel Marina**
Sportsman's Marina and its water playground are especially convenient—just about a 3-minute boat ride or 5-minute drive from the lodge!
So Much to Explore Nearby
When you're ready to venture beyond the lake, you'll find plenty to do nearby:
* Virginia Creeper Trail – Alvarado Station: approximately 9.1 miles away, with bike rentals, BBQ, and ice cream nearby * Barter Theatre and charming downtown Abingdon * Local wineries and wine tours * Festivals and live music * Antique shops and local boutiques * Scenic mountain drives * Hiking and biking * Fishing, kayaking, swimming, and boating
Or don't go anywhere at all! Sometimes the best vacation day is the one spent swimming off the dock, grilling dinner, watching the sunset, and ending the night in the hot tub.
Come Make Some Memories
South Holston Lake is one of those special places that encourages you to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the people you're with.
From summer days spent on the water to fall leaves, winter fires, spring adventures, and quiet evenings under the stars, we hope our lodge becomes a place where your family and friends make memories you'll talk about for years to come.
A Quick Note About the Dock
Our family keeps personal boats at the dock, and from time to time we may briefly access the dock to retrieve or return a boat. **We do not enter the home or guest areas and make every effort not to interrupt your stay.** Whenever possible, we'll also send a courtesy message beforehand so you're not surprised to see us.
This isn't just a vacation rental—it's our family's home away from home. We personally enjoy the lodge throughout the year and are grateful to share it with guests when we're away. Because it's a true second home rather than a full-time rental property, you'll find the warmth, character, and little personal touches of a home that's genuinely loved and cared for. We simply ask that our guests enjoy it, make wonderful memories, and care for it as they would their own.
We truly love this home, this lake, and this beautiful corner of Tennessee and Virginia, and we're excited to share it with you. We look forward to welcoming you as our honored guests!

This property was perfect for our bachelor party. The space was large, clean, and comfortable, with stunning views of the water. While there is a boat available to rent, it's definitely not a requirement to have a great time. The dock and swimming area were a highlight of the trip and kept everyone entertained for hours. Overall, this was an outstanding stay, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing getaway for a large number of people.
Our family had a great time at the lake! The kids loved swimming and fishing on the dock. We brought our own kayaks and took them out several times. Plenty of kitchen supplies were available to feed all 3 families. All of us had a wonderful vacation. Great place for larger families to gather and spend time together.
We had the best time at the “Dougout.” The house and the lake amenities were perfect for a large group like ours. The house was clean and felt like home.
Even Better in person. Spacious, quiet neighborhood, deer everywhere!!! Gorgeous, lake just steps away and stocked with kayaks paddleboat and even a slide off the dock for the littles. We'll stocked kitchen, comfy beds, good communication with host, 10 out of 10!!
I rented this place with 11 of my friends who came in from all across the country, and we couldn’t have picked a better place.Getting 12 people under one roof without somebody wanting to kill somebody by the end of the weekend is an accomplishment by itself — but this house had more than enough beds and space for everybody. We could all hang out together without ever feeling crowded. The view is absolutely beautiful, and having the lake right there was one of the best parts of our stay. We spent time swimming, fishing, relaxing in the hot tub, and enjoying the games provided at the house. There was always something to do, or you could just sit back and enjoy the scenery. The host was also great to deal with. Communication was easy from beginning to end, and anytime we had a question, getting in touch was simple and straightforward. That definitely made traveling with such a large group a lot easier. The house became more than just somewhere to sleep — it was a big part of what made the weekend so much fun. When you bring together 13 friends from different parts of the country, you know you're going to make some memories, and we definitely did.Fantastic place, fantastic weekend, and we'd absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend it for a big group of friends looking for a great place to get together!
The house was spacious and had a wonderful view of the lake. The kids loved swimming in the lake and taking kayak rides. The house was clean with a nicely stocked kitchen. We would definitely stay again!
Our host was very attentive and the home was welcoming. Although many amenities were not useable because of the weather and time of year we enjoyed watching the fish jump and the scenery was beautiful.
Plenty of room for family ages 6 months to 83 years for a long weekend. Rented a pontoon boat for a day from one of the local marinas and the kids enjoyed the inflatables at Sportsman's Marina. The kitchen has everything we needed for family dinners and game nights.

Great get away!
We selected this place for a brief retreat for couples in ministry, and we were very pleased. The views of the lake and mountains are absolutely amazing, and the accommodations are wonderful. It is a great space to relax and have fun, whether coming as several couples, a large family or a group of people. We highly recommend this place!
This house is fantastic! My son got married in nearby Abingdon, Virginia and we stayed here for the weekend. It was perfect for my 11 adult kids. Spacious, welcoming, perfect gathering areas, great kitchen to cook, and exceptionally clean. Can't recommend this location enough!!
