Rural Home Notes Like many country homes, we use well water and a small septic system. The well water is 3rd‑party tested and safe for bathing and washing, though it may occasionally have a slight sulfur smell. Bottled water is provided for drinking. Because of the septic system and the size of the home, we cannot host large gatherings or parties.
You may also see a few Asian lady beetles or box elder bugs during certain seasons. They’re harmless, and while we have regular pest control, country homes naturally get a few visitors.
House Rules To keep our home comfortable for everyone, we don’t allow pets, parties, events, or large gatherings. Vrbo also has a strict no‑party policy, and we appreciate your help in maintaining a peaceful, family‑friendly space.
For your safety, please enjoy the yard and outdoor areas but avoid entering the barns, sheds or outbuildings, as they’re part of the working farm.
Book Your Stay Escape the noise, breathe in the fresh country air, and enjoy the timeless charm of Illinois farm life. Reserve your stay at Grandma Moo’s Farmhouse and experience simple, cozy rural living.

About the host
Hosted by Dawnelle Glass
I grew up helping my Grandma, JaneAnn Moody, on this farm, which has been in our family since the 1800s. She loved her sheep and chickens, and every year I helped her trim hooves, vaccinate lambs, feed bottle babies, hatch chicks, and even raise the occasional potbelly pig. She believed in family, hard work, and getting kids involved in the rhythms of farm life.
Everyone always asks why we call her Grandma Moo instead of Moody. When my cousin visited from Dallas as a little boy, he was convinced the sheep said “moo” instead of “baa.” He even mailed her a letter with a drawing of sheep and speech bubbles saying “moo.” Years later, when I had children of my own, my foster son couldn’t pronounce “Moody,” so he called her “Mamaw Moo.” She loved it so much that she introduced herself as Grandma Moo — or simply “Moo” — to everyone who visited from then on.
Hosting this farmhouse is one small way we get to share a bit of Grandma Moo’s warmth, humor, and hospitality with you. We hope you feel at home here, just like we always did.
