Gulf Island Beach and Tennis Club (view the resort also online) has an abundance of lush tropical plants enhancing the stunning views and feel of the Gulf. Add to this a peaceful lagoon, host to visiting dolphins and manatees, and the immersion of coastal living is intoxicating.
Condo #406 welcomes you with its coastal decor to an open floor plan of kitchen, dining, and living room. The moment you open the front door, the floor to ceiling glass sliders draw you to the breath-taking views of the lagoon. This unobstructive view can be see from anywhere in the room.
The kitchen is fully equipped - refrigerator with ice maker, full size stove, microwave, dishwasher, and air fryer. Small appliances include a Keurig, 12 cup coffee maker, electric tea hot water maker, electric griddle, and high-speed hand mixer. A complete knife set, cooking and serving utensils, and tableware and dish settings for 12. There are mixing and serving bowls. Storage containers are also available. A variety of cookie sheets, pizza pans, pots and frying pans are located under the bar. A completely equipped kitchen.
The dining room has a table and comfortable seating for 6 people. By folding the edges of the table down, it converts to a card and game table. A selection of games is located in a basket under the white end table. Colorful placemats can be found in the 1st basket under the same table.
The relaxing living room area has a sofa and loveseat each with 2 built-in recliners for a total of 4. A 65" TV with Spectrum cable sits above an electric fireplace. The fireplace is not only useful for taking the chill off of evening air but adds an ambiance of firelight. Floor to ceiling glass sliders provide a peaceful view of the Gulf and the lagoon while resting in the recliners. A mirrored wall provides added reflective light which brightens the room.
The primary bedroom suite has floor to ceiling glass sliders allowing views of the Gulf and evening lights while resting in the king-size bed. Amble storage is provided in 2 dressers and 2-night tables. Reading lamps for both sides of the bed are for your convenience. A ceiling fan adds additional light and air circulation by a remote. A large closet for hanging clothes is more than adequate. The ensuite has an oversized vanity with a private area for the commode and tub/shower. Plush towels are also available.
The secondary bedroom suite comes equipped with a queen size bed, large dresser and 2 nightstands. A ceiling fan with a light and variable fan speeds can be operated by a remote. 2 reading lamps are also provided. A closet for hanging clothes is to the side of the room. The closet is where the iron and ironing board are located. The ensuite has a vanity area with an enclosed commode and shower. Plush towels are in this area also.
The outdoor balcony accessed through the living room and primary bedroom is an excellent place to have morning coffee or evening drinks. 4 stools plus 2 square tables allow you sit high enough to see over the safety railings to the Gulf and lagoon. Morning breezes and evening lights add to the enjoyment of the balcony. This is also an area to bird watch. If pelicans are in the water of the lagoon, it is a clue dolphins are close. Many varieties of bird's nest in the trees surrounding the lagoon. A bird book is in the bookcase with the fireplace.
Tips: a cleaning closet with supplies, vacuum, and broom is off the dining area.

There are so many interesting activities on Gulf Island you may never choose to leave once you arrive. Outdoor activities are:
2 tennis courts - located in front of the club house
4 pickle ball courts - located in front of building 3. 4 pickle ball paddles and balls
are in the sports shed.
Sunbathing and reading on the promenade. Floridian books can be located on
the bookcase with the TV. Take the elevator to Floor 1, walk straight ahead
through the double doors. Chairs, tables and loungers provided.
Gulf Island private beach. 4 beach chairs are in sports shed.
Snorkeling in the lagoon. 4 fins, masks, and snorkels in the sport shed. There are
also 4 boogie boards, 4 large noodles for floating and beach towels.
2 kayaks and paddles. Life vests are available. We have a selection of sizes. Please
call and ask what sizes I have.
The nature walk over the bridge. Be sure to stop and look for fish. Sometimes
there are big schools.
Fishing from the bridge on the nature walk and along the canal in front of the
buildings.
Swimming in the Olympic, saltwater pool. It is heated to 82 degrees, and you can
also use the noodles here. Tables, chairs, and loungers are provided.
Best viewing of sunsets is the front walkway all the way to the West end on any
floor above 3.
The nature walk, pool, and the beach are accessed through gates requiring the fob. The 2 fobs are on hooks in the cleaning closet.
Inclement weather? No worry. The clubhouse has activities also. Door to the clubhouse is to the right of elevators on floor 1.
Workout rooms are the first hallway to the left. Change rooms and showers are
also available. You will need a fob to enter rooms.
Enjoy playing the piano? There is one in the great room.
A large TV for viewing events with a seating area is also in the great room.
A game room featuring pool, foosball, ping pong and other large table games are
located here. Continue through the room and you will find more games and a
library.
When leaving the island, you are on Sea Ranch Drive. The first road before US 19 is the Old Dixie Highway. Turning left and at the end of the block, you will see a old fashioned ice cream parlor with delicious ice cream. A real treat. at the stop sign turn left and you will find 2 outstanding restaurants - Inn at the Gulf and Sam's. Both serve outstanding sea food. Sam's usually has live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The Hudson Marina is right around the curve, where you can charter fishing trips and dolphin watching tours.
Going back to the Old Dixie Highway, turn left and continue for 5 miles and you will reach SunWest, a water sports and picnic park. Volleyball nets, picnic tables, water skiing pulley, a ninja complex, and a hiking trail have been developed.
Going North on US 19 from Sea Ranch Drive you will find a dinner theater well-known for its entertainment and food. Be sure to call for reservations. On the left you can also find farmer's markets. There is a shopping mall right after turning on to US 19. There are 2 must see shops. One specializes in coastal furniture and decor, and the other shop has unusual coastal souvenirs.
