Switzerland 2024

This apartment was an amazing spot for us! We were able to catch the bus and get to the train station quickly. We were also able to get walk pretty much anywhere we needed to go. The space was perfect for the three of us and had everything we needed. The owners were on top of it and answered any questions we had quickly and efficiently.We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic launching point to explore Switzerland

Awesome apartment in the heart of old Bern where you can explore the charming streets, delicious restaurants and cool shops. A quick walk to the train station and you can easily enjoy day trips to most parts of the country in under 90 mins. Sara and Rob are excellent hosts who will be sure to make time to visit with you and provide tips that ensure you are getting the vacation experience you are after.

Fantastic & Unique Dream Flat in Old Town Bern!

Wonderful stay in this lovely flat. Rooms were unique and beautiful! Living space was separate from kitchen & bath via hallway which made it fun & giving us the entire 1st floor! Windows looked out on to streets of Old Town Bern filled with cafe's, shops, interesting monuments, people and close to the Arie river & Bear Park! Such a wonderful experience we had our 1st time ever as a family in this area & wonderful communication with the hosts! If we are lucky enough to travel there again we would absolutely stay there in Bern!

Wonderful stay in Old Town Bern

This was our third stay in this wonderful, centrally-located apartment building over a 10-year period. Everything you could possible need in Bern is just steps away. The apartment is well-equipped and very comfortable, with all modern conveniences, despite the centuries-old historic setting. Rob and Sara are great hosts, ready to help with any questions and to ensure an enjoyable stay in Bern. Thanks for another enjoyable stay. Hope to be back soon.

A unique experience!

My wife and I really enjoyed staying in Rob and Sara’s place. The apartment is right around 300 years old and is full of unique historical items, such as the restored original floor, the original tile stove, the beautifully hand painted closet and various other cool features. At the same time the apartment has a modern kitchen and bathroom. Great place!!!

Great apartment!

Excellent location! Clean and spacious apartment. Host was quick to respond and gave good restaurant recommendations and helpful tips for floating down the river (an amazing experience for those in our family that did it!). All check in/check out details and other instructions are well explained via VRBO email, a video and a binder in the apartment. Apartment has labels throughout with helpful instructions (how to use the dishwasher, a reminder to close the windows, etc.). Well stocked kitchen in terms of utensils and pantry basics. It was nice to have laundry on site—there is no laundromat in Bern. Cost was 6CHF to wash and another 6 CHF to dry. Would definitely stay here again!

The best location in Bern

We stayed for 7 nights and loved the location. We even loved the sounds of the bells ringing in the towers nearby. There are restaurants, bakeries and lovely shopping within steps. The apartment was very clean and neat. Rob and Sara are great hosts and responded quickly to requests and questions. They take great pride in their property. We did not fully understand the layout of the apartment when we booked (now there is a floor plan added). The access to the nice bathroom and lovely kitchen is by exiting the bedroom/living room, walking across a hallway (that has access to upper apartment and lower hallway) into a separate door. These rooms are only occupied by the guests who rent the apartment so in that since they are private. Once we got used to that layout, we were fine, it was just a surprise. However, this apartment in the charming 500 year old building has been lovingly updated, is spacious and very comfortable. We will definitely request to stay again when we are back in Bern. Thank you Rob and Sara.

Charming Old Town Bern

A wonderful old world architectural apartment with modern comfortable amenities right in the center of Alstadt Bern. The hosts have thought of everything for your comfort. The location is right where you want to be. Loved it.

Historische Wohnung in perfekter Lage

Wir haben die Eindrücke der Stadt Bern in der Nähe sehr genossen, konnten auch in der Wohnung die Ruhe genießen. Die Gerätschaften in Küche und Bad waren sehr brauchbar und die Räumlichkeiten sehr ok für uns als Kleinfamilie mit Teenager. Danke für alles und vielleicht bis bald noch einmal.

A perfect location

The apartment was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We were very comfortable and had plenty of room. Communication with the host was always very helpful and responses were quick and timely. Bern is a beautiful city with wonderful attractions, restaurants and shops. This location was in a perfect location and lent itself very well to walking everywhere. Including the train station. Perfection!

I can't say enough positive things about this property. The location is perfect - walking distance to all the sights in old town, shopping, restaurants, and transportation. Despite this, the apartment was very quiet and cozy every night. The apartment is clean, airy, and very comfortable. There is also a lovely bakery next door that we visited almost every morning. Check in/out was a breeze and Rob was always helpful with assistance and suggestions. You can't go wrong with this property and my family hopes to return again!

A great place in a great location

This apartment was a great place in a great location. I can't say enough about staying in Bern old town, a block away from the Zytlogge clock tower and a few blocks from the main cathedral. Super walkable. The apartment's bedroom was dark and quiet through the night (if you close the windows, because cathedral bells, of course!). As I saw from the listing, the bathroom and kitchen are separated from the main unit by the stairwell, and while this was initially awkward, it also added a lot of ambience to the old European experience and ended up working out great in our routines. Owner was A+ communicative throughout the stay and all of the owner-provided info was well thought out. Would stay here again.

Bern retreat

Wunderbare Lage und originelle Wohnung

Die Wohnung mitten in der Altstadt von Bern wurde wunderbar renoviert und sehr stilvoll eingerichtet. Die Küche hat alles, was es braucht und die ganze Wohnung war blitzblank und sehr einladend. Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern war auch perfekt. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und freuen uns darauf, wieder zu kommen.

Best Place Ever!!

This place was an amazing location, the bed was the MOST COMFORTABLE, the communication was quick and amazing, the kitchen was well stocked and it had anything that you would need to have a great stay!!! Rob and Sara are amazing hosts and really have thought of everything. We will stay there again!!!

I live with my husband, Rob and our two kids on the fourth floor of the building. The rental apartment is located on the first floor so we are never far away should you need any help. We love meeting new people and sharing the beautiful city of Bern. We have been operating Bern City Rentals for 10 years.
