Two sea front villas on on a quiet, idyllic palm-lined beach, away from mass tourism. The spacious and airy houses sit on elevated platforms and offer great views of the Indian Ocean. Solid stone houses built with local materials (Makuti thatched roof, Eco- hardwood/ furniture & natural stone floors). We offer comfort and all modern amenities.

The big villa (approx. 150 m² including 2 terraces) has 2 spacious bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. 1 large double bed (2x2,20m), 1 large double bed plus 1 single bed (2x1,40m). The villa has a spacious living room with a bar and fully equipped kitchen.

The newly built cottage (100 m²) has 2 double bedrooms (double beds 163x 195). a seaside terrace and a kitchen.


What does our house offer? The main living areas are the seafront terraces with stone benches/cushions for lounging and dining tables. Here you can sit in the shade all day and watch passing dhows on the ocean. The sunset can best be enjoyed from the rear terrace of the big villa against the backdrop of fruit and palm trees. The beach is 50 m away.

How to get to Ushongo? Via Dar es Salaam (DSM), Zanzibar/Kilimanjaro, or Mombasa, then continue by air to Machado with Auric Air or Coastal Air,or by taxi through the scenic Saadani Game park. Alternatively you can take a speedboat from Nungwi/Zanzibar.

Why Ushongo/Tanzania? Tanzania is an excellent alternative to the Kenyan south coast and Zanzibar: no mass tourism (no large hotels, no package tourists), there are only a few private houses, these are like ours ‘in the front row’ with direct beach access, largely untouched beaches, no prostitution/no harassment by vendors. Unlike many beaches in Zanzibar, you and your children can swim safely in the sea in Ushongo all year round with gentle waves.
