===== We use sunlight (line dry laundry) in addition to other cleaning methods and products (alcohol, bleach solutions, detergent and hot water, Thieves essential oil cleaners, ....) doing our best to present our guests with a clean and healthy vacation rental stay.
"The (COVID-19) virus dies quickest in the presence of direct sunlight," said William Bryan, science and technology adviser to the Department of Homeland Security. This is one of the reasons we use a clothes line for linens - also to do our bit to walk gently on the planet. :-)
The CDC recommends employing ventilation as part of the cleaning process, accordingly we open all windows and doors to allow maximum fresh air and sunlight after a guest group have left the house.
After thorough cleaning, e.g. alcohol wipe down on all doorknobs, light switches, faucet handles, toilet seats and flushing handles, etc. we have implemented the following:
- Soft/porous surfaces - rugs and floor mats: after cleaning are placed in the sun (weather dependent) - living room couch, loveseat, chair, ottoman, couch cushions and couch pillows: - spray with 70% alcohol-based spray
- Hard surfaces are also sprayed with 70% alcohol-based spray after a thorough cleaning.
We welcome and appreciate your thoughts and suggestions on improving our cleaning and disinfecting practices.
The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:

The property was really awesome. Beautiful views and very secluded, which is the reason we picked this property. Everything you need is there. Would book again.

Thank you for the review. You were a pleasure to host. Please visit again. :/)
Wonderful place to stay, the view was amazing and it was so peaceful!I will note that if you are planning to do a lot of sightseeing this is probably not the best choice as it’s pretty far from even the nearest grocery stores.

Thank you so much for reviewing us.
We tell everyone the mileage and driving time from our lodge to Canon City. Your review reiterates that information. We always want to be a good fit for our guests.
For those seeking peace, quiet, and spectacular scenery we are an excellent fit. If you want to be in the cities most of the time we are not - unless you also want scenic drives.

The property was beautiful from the start. The drive up the 9,000ft square mountain has an amazing view of varieties pines trees, beautiful landscaping and all the cabin away from each other in a distance. If your looking for a very quiet peaceful place to get away, I would highly recommend it.! The view as the sunrise to dawn is amazing. Have to see it to believe it.
Great spot to relax. It’s a bit of a drive off the main road, but that just adds to the feeling of seclusion. Amazing views! Host was very responsive, would recommend.
Beautiful views and wonderful owners! We were looking for a place for our family to unwind and connect, we got exactly that! Very clean, comfortable and cozy! Already thinking of our next visit!!
The hosts are extremely attentive. It felt more like an actuAl bed and breakfast where you are staying with the hosts, than it did just a rental. They were present for our every need.

About the host
Hosted by Joyce and Michael Omohundro
We began hosting to share this retreat with others. Our guests tell us that they didn't know how badly they needed to escape the hustle and bustle for awhile until they came. They relaxed, re-connected with their family and loved ones, playing games, talking, and hiking. Some even say it changed their lives as they had time to stop, think, and talk about what was important to them and make plans for the future. We are inclusive and welcome everyone to come and enjoy our ranch.
Growing up in a rural farming community (Joyce) I learned a deep respect and responsibility for the land. We consider ourselves stewards of this wonderful place and offer choices to our guests to participate. - recycle - use 'paperless' paper towels and cloth napkins instead of single use paper products. - - Traditional products – paper towels, napkins – are provided so the choice is yours. - add to our compost. - purchasing foodstuffs from our neighbors such as organic free-range eggs, honey, and organic greenhouse vegetables. - Grocery delivery, and home cooked meals are available for a fee from one of our neighbors.

About Joyce: School: North Hardin High School, University of Louisville, University of Denver Work: Full-time vacation rental host grew up in rural Kentucky on a dairy farm. Went to college at University of Louisville and ended up traveling the world as a computer consultant. :-) Speaks fluent English and Spanish and some French. Michael: grew up in Virginia and is a graduate of Annapolis and Univ. of Oregon. He is a history buff, loves the outdoors, and sports - of course - golf, 8-oar rowing, marksmanship, skiing. He speaks English and Spanish.
Why they chose this property
We looked for 2 years before purchasing Soaring Eagle. We wanted beautiful scenery, serenity (no road noise - just the wind in the trees). We wanted to see wildlife: deer, elk, antelope, fox, bobcat, etc. It has wonderful water - its own well so we are able to have a lovely garden in front of our house and grow our own food. :-) We use LED lighting in the house and solar lights outside. We work to mitigate fire danger, but trimming dead branches and removing dead trees which we use in our wood burning furnace that heats our house and also in our greenhouse and surrounding orchard and outdoor gardening to improve the soil and hold moisture for our plants – reducing our need to water. The main part of the house is heated by passive solar and a backup fireplace.

What makes this property unique
The home has southern exposures and views from almost every room. The interior is paneled and has a wood smell when you walk in. I love the flow of the house. From the deck we have a plethora of hummingbirds and other local birds in the summer. They look like flying jewels. :-) Property is home to herds of elk, deer, antelope. Bird sightings include bald eagles, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, great horned owls, and a variety of birds native to the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Property also contains several miles of professionally designed and created hiking and mountain bike trails. Bring your bikes and/or good shoes to fully enjoy this unique 345 acre property.
