About this property
Holiday apartment Menfi for 2 - 6 persons with 2 bedrooms - Holiday house
ED Refnr. 2880289
La Casa del Gelsomino is set in a vast flower garden, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, orchards and other dense vegetation in a mutual contamination of Mediterranean colours, smells and flavours. It has its own private outdoor area, cosy and immersed in greenery. Two centuries-old carob trees mark the garden, from which there is a breathtaking view over the valley and the sea. The atmosphere is typically Mediterranean. A stay at the Casa del Gelsomino is a genuine Sicilian experience, where rurality and tradition guarantee a familiar and authentic welcome and hospitality. The possibility of spending pleasant moments of relaxation, enjoying private outdoor spaces, enriches this feeling of wellbeing, ease and intimacy. Outside, in their small gardens and verandas covered with reeds and bordered by palms, bougainvilleas, rose bushes and jasmine, guests can indulge in their moments of food and also enjoy the cool evenings that Sicily's temperate evening climate gives us.In addition to the spaces specifically belonging to the Casa del Gelsomino, guests can also enjoy the Belvedere over the Menfi countryside that merges with the sea line to the south, as well as the Case Graffeo vegetable garden, set in an area bordered by a colourful hedge of prickly pears. The vegetables and greens, strictly organic, that the Graffeo family produces in this garden can be harvested directly by guests, who can then use them to prepare delicious traditional local dishes.La Casa del Gelsomino nel Borgo di Case Graffeo is an ideal place to spend a pleasant naturalistic and cultural holiday in western Sicily. From Menfi, by car and in some cases also by bicycle, in absolute relaxation and taking between 15 and 60 minutes, crossing gentle hills and admiring wonderful natural landscapes, it is possible to reach and visit numerous sites of historical and archaeological interest; to name but a few the Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave di Cusa - the most extensive evidence of Greek domination in Sicily -, the Greek Temple and Theatre of Segesta, the Oriented Nature Reserves of the Belice River and the Zingaro, the Scala dei Turchi the Greek Temple of Concordia and with it all the others that enrich and adorn the famous and marvellous Valley of the Temples in Agrigento - included since 1997 in the list of World Heritage Sites drawn up by UNESCO - and then Mazara del Vallo with the Museum that preserves its Dancing Satyr - an emblem of Mediterranean beauty, an example of the submerged cultural heritage recovered in the sea of Sicily - and the Salt Pans of Marsala, Erice and Trapani.
In addition to the spaces specifically pertaining to the Casa del Gelsomino, comprising, on the ground floor, a veranda covered with reeds and bordered by a laurel hedge and a loggia, guests can enjoy the Belvedere over the Menfi countryside that merges to the south with the sea line, as well as the Case Graffeo vegetable garden, set in a space bordered by a colourful hedge of Prickly Pears; The vegetables and greens, strictly organic, which the Graffeo family produces in this garden, can be picked directly by the guests and processed by them for the preparation of delicious dishes of the local culinary tradition.
Arranged on two floors and also accessible from a small private garden.GROUND FLOOR: you are welcomed into the living area, spacious and bright, from which the horizon to the south is bordered by a flowering hedge of pink oleanders beyond which you can enjoy the view of the valley that flows into the sea. In this area, equipped with every comfort, the furnishings combine tradition, typicality and rurality with simplicity, sobriety and essentiality. A cooking corner, also overlooking the valley and the sea, completes this living area. Adjacent to the cooking corner, our guests can make use of a small area containing a service and laundry space. Outside the living room, in the small private garden covered with reeds, guests can indulge in their moments dedicated to food and also enjoy the cool evenings that Sicily's temperate evening climate gives us. The ground floor is completed by one of the two bedrooms with which the house is equipped. This first bedroom overlooks, through a large, bright window, the small private garden bordered to the north by a laurel hedge and to the west by another jasmine hedge from which the House has acquired its name. It has at its disposal an independent room service that can also be used by the disabled. The furnishings include a double bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a bench. The large window can be closed by a curtain made of completely blackout material to allow maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. From the living area one reaches the UPPER FLOOR, a sort of mezzanine floor, by means of an iron staircase made with all its skill by a local blacksmith; its magnificence, its mightiness, but at the same time the sobriety and lightness of its lines distinguish it. A small landing overlooking the valley and the sea leads to the second bedroom of the house. This too, to the south, through a large, bright window enjoys the view and the landscape that opens onto the valley and the sea. Another access, located on the north side of the room, opens onto a reed-covered veranda from which, reclining on simple, linear but comfortable armchairs, it is possible to enjoy the cool northern breeze and the geometries designed by the luxuriant rows of vines that border the area of the House. There is also an independent room service. The furnishings include two single beds that can be converted into a double bed, a walk-in wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Specific curtains on the window frames, made of completely blackout material, provide maximum comfort for guests who prefer to rest in the dark. The House is entirely AIR CONDITIONED and Wi-Fi is always active and accessible in all its indoor and outdoor areas.
