About this property

360 Degree Skies in Magdalena, New Mexico

360 Degree Skies is a unique passive solar home with an open floor plan, which creates a bright, welcoming space. Heating and AC keep the home comfortable year-round. This inviting 3-bedroom home offers a comfortable layout, with one queen bed and three full beds. Whether you’re relaxing indoors, taking in the surrounding mountain views, or if you are here for the dark skies, this home provides a wonderful base to experience everything Magdalena and Socorro County have to offer. Conveniently located just 30 minutes from Socorro and about 90 minutes from Albuquerque International Airport.

The house is located at the north end of the Magdalena Mountains, offering a great view of the Magdalena Mountain and the iconic “Lady of the Mountain.” Bordering the Cibola National Forest, this property boasts sweeping 360° views, magical ever-changing skies, and incredible dark nights perfect for stargazing. With the closest neighbor a quarter mile away, you’ll enjoy exceptional privacy while still being just a five-minute drive to the village.

This house is cozy and connects you to the surrounding nature. The views are beautiful, and the home is secluded enough that you may even get wildlife visitors! There are endless photo opportunities. You may never want to leave—waking up in the master bedroom to a view of Magdalena Mountain, with the rest of the “Maggies” in the distance, is amazing.

The lightning storms in the summer are incredible if you’re lucky enough to catch one. There is the snow on a winter day, the sunsets, the sunrises—it’s endless. I’ll speak for myself when I say it’s my favorite place on earth.

This house has a long driveway—about half a mile. A trailer at the quarter-mile mark is rented by a family member and her pup. It’s important to note that the driveway runs through an arroyo, which is a dry riverbed. Late in the monsoon season, this “river” may occasionally run. Use caution when approaching the arroyo in late summer. Do not drive through water.

There is also a chance that the arroyo may run while you are at the house or while you are out and about. For a brief time, flowing water can prevent access to the house or prevent you from leaving. If you are staying in July, August, or September, a four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended. However, if you have a regular two-wheel-drive vehicle, it may simply mean waiting until someone can bring the tractor to repair the section of driveway where the arroyo crosses. This situation is not common, but it does happen a few times each year toward the end of the monsoon season, after water begins to accumulate higher in the mountains. Any bookings between July 1 and September 30 will require a phone conversation with Patti to discuss arroyo safety.
