Mad River Valley Basecamp

Set between Sugarbush and Mad River Glen with the Catamount Trail and the Mill Brook running right through it, The Battleground has long been a favorite of outdoor enthusiasts. In the winter, just about every car in the lot has a box on it, in the summer it’s bikes. A couple of units have canoes hanging out front.

It's is like a bougie sleepover camp where you stay in cool mid-century condos instead of rustic last century cabins.

In the summer, the laid back camp vibe is accentuated by the pool, which sits above the complex at the top of a trail that has several sets of stairs built into it. Turn around and all you see are treetops and the ridge line of General Stark Mountain across the valley.

Once inside this two bedroom unit at the southern edge of this well-built complex, it feels like you are in a small house in the middle of the woods. In the winter, fire up the wood stove for maximum coziness.

With a bunk in the second bedroom and two nice futons in the living room, this unit can comfortably accommodate a party of 6. The efficient galley kitchen is equipped with everything you need to to prepare a meal to enjoy around the dining room table.
