Buger is a hilltop village in the North of Mallorca, a 30 minute drive from Palma
and the airport. It is a very traditional village, protected from the tourist
hotspots.
Buger village has a small supermarket and a local bakery perfect for morning
croissant or Ensaimada (Spiral pastry). Right next to the house is a bar on the
church steps which serves and a small market sells fresh fruit and vegetables on
a Saturday morning.
The house is around 300 years old and built in the Mallorcan tradition with stone
walls, exposed beams and simple, rustic charm. The two storey house
comfortably sleeps 8 with 4 good sized bedrooms and 2 newly refurbished
bathrooms (awaiting photos). 3 rooms have king size beds and one room has
twins and a cot. Each bedroom has air conditioning.
The kitchen is a great space to cook up some delicious holiday meals. We love to
cook and guests have been delighted with the equipment provided. There is an
inside dining area for cooler months and a cosy lounge on the first floor where
you can relax and watch a movie in front of a log burner. The first floor balcony is
a lovely spot for a morning coffee, and leads up to the roof terrace with
commanding views of the sea at Alcudia and the Tramuntana mountains creating
a great space for a sundowner.
In the garden there is a dining area and BBQ which leads nicely through to the 8
meter swimming pool ( open May – September) and the all important sun
loungers. The garden has olive, lemon and orange trees and there is free parking
on the street.
Despite being off the beaten track, Buger is in a fantastic place to keep the
active happy. It is close to the epicentre for walkers and cyclists ( lots of quality
bike hire available ), and the nearby coastal towns of Pollenca and Alcudia ( a 20
minute drive) offer the full range of water sports and boat hire.
We will provide a list of great restaurants and a schedule of local markets . it is
also worth looking out for the many small town fiestas including the herb fair in
Selva, the honey fair in Llubi and Buger’s own Festival St Pere at the end of June.
This is not a party house, and there are no clubs! Local legislation prevents
excessive noise after 2230 hours , so not suitable for those looking to stay up all
night but works brilliantly for extended families or friends who want to have an
authentic Mallorcan experience.
