About this property
Historic Mountain Chateau with Lake Access
This historic lakefront property with its own private dock and bbq patio right on the shore of Lake Arrowhead, is perfect for family gatherings or large groups of up to 12. The 4,000 Sq. Ft. Tudor style Chateau constructed in the 1920's is one of the original lakeshore homes on Lake Arrowhead. This beloved home has hosted many a family gathering and we'd love to host yours!
My grandmother left this house to our family, and we've been using it to gather for many decades. From cooking big meals on the griddle to swimming in the lake, writing music, playing board games to summer dinners on the back porch, this house holds memories and mementos of family togetherness that we cherish dearly. The house feels well-loved and unique, filled with charming reminders of our traditions and community. Enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind property for an exceptional value!
Some highlights include the massive family room, back porch with lakeside views, huge backyard with garden walkways, and easy lake access.
One of the best things about this home is the kitchen - which is the family gathering place in the morning and for board games after dinner. We cousins remember our childhood waking up to the smell of pancakes and bacon cooked on the thick cast iron electric griddle that makes cooking breakfast for large groups a breeze. We call bedroom above the kitchen "the bacon room" because it's the first room that gets to smell the bacon in the morning and we used to fight over who got to sleep there! So... who's going to get dibs on the bacon room?
Location-wise, our cabin is a perfect jumping off point for all sorts of fun activities as well. The backyard offers direct access to the lake and walking paths that hug the shoreline. It's just 15 min to the Lake Arrowhead Village for shopping, dining, boat tours, nightlife and more, 15 min to amazing hiking at the Arrowhead Pinnacles, 20 to from SkyPark at Santa's Village, and 30-60 min to multiple ski resorts and Big Bear. The mountains are a truly special place with unlimited access to adventures for the whole family. Please message with any questions you have. We would love to help you plan your stay.
IMPORTANT - We have very limited parking, enough space for 2 large or 3 small cars. We understand this may inconvenience guests with larger groups, but we will be fined if short term renters park on the street. If this is a problem, we can recommend additional parking options for your stay. Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Duncan Shea
My name is Duncan, and I am the caretaker of my grandmother's house. She raised my whole family here, and the house has immense sentimental value to all of us. I do all the maintenance and cleaning, and this is my only rental property. I grew up visiting this house and it was always the highlight of my year to spend time with family here. Now, I'm looking to share this experience with others and use the money to keep the house as a place for family! My grandmother loved hosting, and I know she would be so happy to see it being used.
Why they chose this property
The lakefront property really can't be beat and every season is beautiful in the mountains. It's a very safe area with lovely neighbors and visitors alike.
What makes this property unique
It's one of the oldest most historic houses in Lake Arrowhead. Because of our family history it feels warm and cozy, but still has enough space for large groups without feeling cramped.
