Secluded Country Escape with Heated Pool, Trails & Forest Views
Escape to a place where time slows down and every part of your day feels intentional. Just 90 minutes outside the city, this private country retreat is tucked away at the very end of a quiet dead-end road—only six homes in total—where the noise fades, the sky opens up, and the rhythm of life becomes something softer, calmer, and more meaningful. Set on an acre and framed by open fields, golden light, and a wooded backdrop, the home feels both expansive and deeply intimate. Behind the yard, a stretch of forest creates a natural wall of privacy, tall trees swaying gently, birds moving through the canopy, and that unmistakable quiet that only the woods can offer. It’s the kind of place where you step outside and immediately feel grounded. Inside, the home is warm, layered, and full of character. Sunlight moves through each room throughout the day, creating a natural flow that invites you to settle in and stay awhile. With five bedrooms—four upstairs and one in the finished basement—there’s space for everyone to spread out comfortably. Three of the bedrooms include TVs for private downtime, while the basement bedroom doubles as a playful escape, complete with ping pong and an air hockey table—perfect for late-night laughter and relaxed competition. The main living area is the emotional center of the home. Anchored by a wood stove and intentionally designed as a screen-free space, it becomes a place for connection—morning coffee with a book, long conversations that stretch into the evening, board games spread across the table, and the quiet joy of being fully present. Just beyond, the TV room offers a different kind of comfort, with a propane fireplace casting a soft glow—ideal for cozy movie nights when you’re ready to unwind. Next to the TV room, a thoughtfully designed children’s playroom creates a beautiful balance for families. Enclosed with glass French doors, it allows kids to have their own space to play and explore, while still being fully visible—so you can relax nearby, knowing they’re safe and happy, without the noise carrying through the house. One of the most loved spaces is the fully enclosed sunroom/mudroom. Completely protected from bugs, it offers a peaceful little sanctuary within the home. A small table for two sits by the windows—perfect for slow mornings with coffee as the light pours in, or quiet evenings with a drink as the sky begins to shift. It’s one of those spaces that feels like a secret you’ll want to keep to yourself. Step outside, and the beauty of the property unfolds in every direction. The backyard opens into a wide, open expanse where the light is everything—soft and golden in the morning, rich and dramatic at sunset. The sunrises here are calm and gentle, while the sunsets are nothing short of stunning—stretching across the sky in layers of color that seem to linger just a little longer than expected. The large heated pool becomes the heart of summer days—cool, refreshing, and surrounded by places to lounge, gather, and simply be. There are multiple outdoor seating areas, each offering a different way to enjoy the space. The side deck, with its patio table and umbrella, is perfect for long outdoor meals. Near the pool, another seating area invites you to relax with a drink in hand, soaking in the warmth of the day. Fire up the gas grill or the dedicated meat smoker and let meals become an experience—slow, shared, and memorable. As night falls, the energy shifts. The bonfire crackles under a sky full of stars, the air cools just enough, and everything feels a little more magical. The gazebo—with electricity—adds yet another dimension to the outdoor space, whether you’re reading, playing music, or simply enjoying the quiet glow of the evening. Across the street, a wide open field invites you to wander—perfect for morning walks, playing with the kids, or letting dogs run freely. Beyond that, an additional field stretches even further, complete with picnic tables, offering the perfect setting for long, unhurried afternoons. And just nearby, tree-lined walking and bike trails wind through the landscape, offering shaded paths that feel almost cinematic—dappled light through the leaves, the sound of tires or footsteps on the path, and that deep sense of calm that comes from being surrounded by nature. Despite the feeling of total escape, you’re less than a mile from town—close enough to grab a morning bagel, pick up groceries, enjoy a yoga class, or browse local shops. And just 15–20 minutes away, Kingston offers a vibrant mix of arts, culture, restaurants, and shopping. Nearby destinations like Mohonk Mountain House and Minnewaska State Park Preserve bring you some of the most breathtaking hiking and views in the region, while local vineyards, breweries, and spots like Inness add a refined, relaxed charm to your stay. In the colder months, nearby ski resorts make this just as inviting in winter as it is in summer. With plenty of parking, a generator for peace of mind, independently controlled AC and heat on each floor, and every practical comfort accounted for—from linens to laundry—this home is designed to feel effortless. A quick note to set expectations: this is our family home, and we truly love it. It’s filled with warmth, and personality. This is not a hotel—there’s no room service, and you may find that some of the small conveniences you’re used to at home aren’t here. And that’s part of the charm. What you will find is a real home—inviting, comfortable, and meant to be enjoyed. It’s the quiet morning light through the windows. The laughter echoing from the basement during a game of ping pong. The stillness of the woods behind you. The glow of the fire at night. The way time seems to stretch, just enough, for you to actually enjoy it. This isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and fall in love with the moment you’re in.

About the host
Hosted by Michael
This home has been a special place for our family for nearly a decade. What started as our weekend escape from New York City became our full-time home for almost three years during the pandemic — and over the years, it has truly become part of our story.
It’s home to my husband and me, our 8-year-old son, our two dogs, and Bernie, our son’s beloved fish. We absolutely love this house, and we hope you will too.
This is not a sterile “rental property” designed to feel like a hotel. It’s a real family home — warm, lived in, welcoming, and full of character. The house is older and has all the charm and quirks that come with that, but we’ve also put a lot of love and care into updating and improving it over the years.
For us, this has always been a place to slow down, cook good meals, reconnect with each other, relax by the pool, enjoy nature, and breathe a little deeper. Whether it’s morning coffee in the sunroom, family game nights in the living room, long walks nearby, or simply enjoying the quiet of the property, this house has given us so many meaningful memories.
If you’re looking for a place to truly unwind, connect, and enjoy the beauty and peace of upstate New York, we think you’ll feel right at home here.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this neighborhood because it offers the perfect balance of convenience, community, and privacy. The house is within walking distance to town, including restaurants, a coffee shop, grocery store, library, pharmacy, and hardware store — everything you need is just minutes away.
At the same time, the street itself feels quiet, peaceful, and tucked away. It’s a small dead-end road with only seven houses total, and ours is the last house on the right. With the trees surrounding the property and very little traffic, it feels secluded and private while still being incredibly close to town.
The only cars that really come down the block belong to the warm and friendly neighbors. It’s the kind of place where our son and dogs can safely run outside freely, where neighbors wave from their porches, and where life feels just a little slower and more connected.
Directly across the street is a beautiful 12-acre field shared by a few neighbors but open for everyone nearby to enjoy. It has become one of our favorite parts of living here. There are two ponds where our son loves catching frogs, throwing rocks and sticks, exploring nature, and ice skating during the winter months. The field is perfect for long walks, quiet mornings, sunsets, and simply enjoying the outdoors.
And truly, one of the most special parts of this place is the community itself. Our neighbors are magical — open-minded, warm, conversational, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Over the years they’ve become real friends, and that sense of connection and comfort is something that makes this neighborhood incredibly special.
What makes this property unique
What makes our property especially unique is the way it blends comfort, charm, and outdoor living into one peaceful escape. The house has two separate decks — one in the front and one on the side — giving you different spaces to enjoy throughout the day, whether it’s morning coffee in the sun, an afternoon by the pool, or dinner outside under the stars.
The heated pool is one of our favorite parts of the property during the warmer months, and the gazebo creates the perfect spot to relax with a book, share a meal, or unwind after a day exploring the area. With both a front and back yard, there’s plenty of space to spread out, play, lounge, or simply enjoy the quiet surroundings.
The property feels private and secluded, surrounded by nature and peaceful outdoor spaces, while still being conveniently close to town and an easy escape from the city. There are beautiful walks nearby, fresh country air, and a slower pace that instantly helps you relax.
Inside and out, the home is filled with charm, character, antiques, and thoughtful touches collected over the years. It has that cozy country feel that makes you want to stay awhile — all while still being accessible from NYC.
