About this property

"Home Base" - 2 Bed/2 Bath Pet Friendly Summer Vacation Availability

"Our Home Base" is where we got our start in 1998. We lived in that spot for months while making a transition to Murphy & starting a family. We moved into a park model cabin with our 1 year old son helping my husbands folks restart what used to be Pine Creek Cabins & Campground. It was a huge step for all of us. A couple years later we added a daughter to our small family. Life moved on - my in laws retired, our kids graduated. The kids now live here as their "home base."
So escape to "Our Home Base" in picturesque Murphy. This marvelous retreat features two cozy bedrooms, each with a queen bed, perfect for a restful night. Guests enjoy two bathrooms, both with a soothing bathtub to unwind after a day of adventure. The space stays comfortable year-round with heating and AC, while thoughtful touches like an iron add convenience. Whether relaxing inside or exploring nearby, this gorgeous "Home Base" offers a welcoming spot to recharge. Experience the magic of Murphy like we did from our "Home Base."

The property is a little hard to find and cell service is spotty in the area so contact the host if VRBO forgets to send you the welcome packet. However, it’s a wonderful place to stay and the hosts were very helpful in taking care of everything we needed. The property was clean and in a quiet neighborhood.

I'm Angie and my husband is Kelly. We met at a restaurant where we both worked. We enjoy the outdoors and our new home, our kids and granddaughter. My husband is into sports & motorcycles while I enjoy gardening, hobby farming and horseback riding. We love living in these mountains and being able to share them with visitors.

Why they chose this property

We moved to this spot in Murphy in September of 1998. My husbands parents had retired and were looking to settle in the area. They stumbled upon a campgroung for sale and wanted to know if we would like to help run it with them. "Pine Creek Cabins" consisted of 10 cabins, 4 one bedroom, 5 two bedroom and one efficiency park model cabins. We lived in the first one bedroom cabin with our one year old son for 6 months while learning the hospitality business. Business grew, we got a bigger place to live and grew our family. Eventually my in laws retired again, sold the cabins off and kept the property. A couple years went by the property was empty except for the cabin office. My husband decided to remodel it into a long term rental so the once vacant building had purpose. A couple years later we added a 2 bedroom mobile home where 2 of the cabins sat. Then we added a one bedroom mobile home. Life was coming back to the place we spent so much time, we raised our kids there, we worked and played there. After renting it long term twice and living in it while we built our home we decided to rent it as a vacation rental. It's no longer Pine Creek Cabins but its still our "Home Base."

What makes this property unique

This place has been home base for years. We built a home in the neighborhood on the hill by Pine Creek so we could be close to work and play. Its were our kids caught the bus in the morning and where they got off the bus after school. We had church picnics, cook outs and family gatherings there. We are all older now, the folks are retired, we live a short distance away and our kids have settled on the property they grew up one. The cabins have been gone but there's still life on the old place.
