About this property
Historic Riverside Retreat/Keeney Cove Views
Good — VRBO descriptions should be 10,000 words or less and include details about amenities, sleeping spaces, and outdoor features. Importantly, the description should sell the experience of staying at the property, not just list its features — using descriptive language to help guests imagine themselves there. VRBO guests also tend to be family/group planners, so more detail is better than less. Here`s the full description: VRBOLodgify
THE COVE HOUSE — Historic Riverside Retreat in Glastonbury, CT Step into a piece of Connecticut history. Built circa 1800, The Cove House is a beautifully restored New England colonial offering nearly 2,500 square feet of thoughtfully designed living space — where wide-plank hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and vintage character meet every modern comfort your group needs. Perched above the serene waters of Keeney Cove with views stretching toward the Connecticut River, this is a home that rewards the senses from the moment you arrive.
THE SPACE The Cove House unfolds across two thoughtfully arranged floors. The ground floor opens into a bright, open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area — ideal for groups who love to gather. The kitchen is a standout: gray painted cabinetry, marble countertops, a dark island with bar seating, a matte black farmhouse sink, stainless LG appliances, and an arched tile niche that nods to the home`s historic roots. The adjacent dining nook features an industrial crank table, pipe bracket shelving, and nautical artwork — casual and full of character. The upper floor reveals vaulted ceilings, exposed architectural details, and a loft-style layout centered around the master suite — a true retreat within a retreat.
BEDROOMS & SLEEPING — Sleeps 6 Comfortably
Master Suite (Upper Floor): King bed with a tufted leather headboard beneath soaring vaulted ceilings. En-suite bath, a sitting area with a velvet sectional, a dedicated workspace, and two leather reading chairs. A genuine sanctuary. Queen Bedroom (Ground Floor): Boutique hotel styling with a queen bed, white dresser, ceiling fan, and ample closet space. Quiet, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. Upper Floor Flex Space: Velvet sectional — perfect for additional guests, a cozy reading retreat, or overflow sleeping. Ground Floor Flex Space: Large gray sectional with a direct slider to the paver courtyard — ideal for guests who want easy outdoor access. Rollout beds available upon request for additional sleeping capacity.
BATHROOMS Two full bathrooms and a powder room serve the home. The en-suite master bath features a slate blue vanity, marble countertop, brushed gold faucets, and an ornate gold mirror. The ground floor bath offers a tiled walk-in shower, dark vanity, and matte black fixtures. Both are stocked with fresh linens and quality soaps for your arrival.
OUTDOOR LIVING The rear deck is where The Cove House truly shines. A dining table seats 6–8 beneath a market umbrella — perfect for evening meals with the cove as your backdrop. A gas grill, lounge chairs with blue cushions, and a fire pit round out an outdoor space designed for lingering. The historic stone retaining wall frames views of the Keeney Cove woodland below, and cove access for fishing and kayaking is just steps away. A large paver courtyard provides ample parking for multiple vehicles and serves as a natural gathering space between the home and the outdoors.
