The Highland Guesthouse is a historic house in a quiet, residential neighborhood a stone’s throw Allegheny College. There are many common areas for guests to enjoy including a lovely porch with rocking chairs and many sitting areas. Our room was a private suite in the lower level of an outbuilding. We liked that it had a private bath, but the kids’ room had no window, and we wished for ways of bringing fresh air into the room (an AC unit in the window prevented us from opening it and there was no screen door on the main door). However we were pleased to find a nice in-town alternative to big chain hotels and loved being near the college. The owners were also very responsive to any questions we had and made us feel very welcome.
