This is a one of a kind experience. Fabio was a phenomenal host. The property is old and beautiful and well maintained. It’s a tad off the grid, which is just what I was going for! Hope to return again someday soon!
Overall, our stay here was wonderful. Two small caveats. First, WiFi was sketchy. For the price, this place should have its own WiFi. There were only a couple of spots where it was reliable. Second, there is a gravel road that lead to the property with lots of ruts dips. Our rental car scraped bottom several times. If you’re driving with a small Fiat or something similar, beware.
Our farmhouse day wasn’t as close to interesting Hill towns as we had thought. The 1 km gravel rock the road was very annoying to get in and out every time. There was also no washing facilities in the apartment. The light was burned out in the kitchen, so we were only in there in the daylight. It was also very cold, but it was a cool May anywhere. When I asked the host for a blanket so that I could put something over my legs in the evening on the couch he gave me the startled look as if I had asked for the moon. And then he brought some old quilt from the house. If you don’t wanna go anywhere, you just wanna stay on the property and veg. It’s a good choice.
Part of a tastefully converted farmstead, with the owners living in the main part, potential guests should be aware that a 1km rough track connects the property to the SP34 and this could be a problem for any car with low ground clearance. Close to Murlo, high on the hillside and surrounded by woodlands and olive groves, a perfect setting for a quiet getaway but rather remote for touring further afield. However there are attractive hiking trails in the immediate area offering classic Tuscan countryside, flora and fauna.
There is a good restaurant in each of the closest villages, Murlo, Vescovado, Lupompesi, and Bibbiano, each around 10 mins by car.
If you plan to do much cooking at Podere Montorgialino, the kitchen equipment is adequate - just. The furniture, is antique, the beds are comfortable and the quilts excellent, however it is otherwise curiously lacking in any signs of recent habitation and strikes one as rather empty and cold.
We were at Podere Montorgialino for the last few days of April and about eleven days of May and were not lucky with the weather so the house was also literally cold. If you plan to visit early in the season be aware that heating is not included in the rental cost, two weeks of frugal use of the heating system cost an additional €140.
The WiFi coverage in the property needs improvement as does the lighting over the kitchen work surfaces.

Prachtige locatie met mooi en ruim appartement
Pros: Locatie is top!
Ruim appartement.
