We were lucky enough to stay at The Pickled Husky for our first trip to Stowe, and we absolutely loved it! The house is every bit as beautiful as it looks in the pictures, and the location is wonderful - it somehow feels peaceful and remote while still being so convenient to downtown Stowe. The views of Mount Mansfield are stunning, and waking up with a cup of coffee, stepping out onto the balcony or porch, and taking in the mountains was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The hosts also let us know that the Stowe Recreation Path is right at the bottom of the street, which made it easy to get out and explore.
The home was clean, beautifully decorated, and well-equipped, with so many thoughtful details throughout. You can even smell the wood when you walk in, which adds to the warmth and character of the space. We loved learning that some of the wood used in the home actually came from the property itself! The kitchen had everything we needed, including a fun collection of mix-and-match plates that added to its charm, and the bathrooms were stocked with toiletries and robes. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and there is so much space throughout the home, making it perfect for larger groups. The kids especially loved the ice cream-themed bunk room in the basement - it was so much fun!
The hosts, Meredith and Chris, were wonderful and communicative throughout our stay. As first-time visitors to Stowe, we also really appreciated the local recommendations they shared with us. You can tell they have put so much thought and care into making The Pickled Husky a special place for guests, and it truly shows. We only wish our long weekend didn’t have to come to an end! We already can’t wait to return to Stowe and hope we’ll have the chance to stay at The Pickled Husky again.
One small note for future guests: when you first turn onto the street, you may wonder if you’re headed the right way. Just keep following the road up! Google Maps has the house pinned correctly, so trust that you’re on the right path.
