About this property
Boat 'Besonders Ausgebautes Rettungsboot' with Wi-Fi
Are you looking for something completely different? Would you like to surprise someone with an unusual overnight stay? The high-quality conversion of this former lifeboat into a mini houseboat offers enough space to spend the night and relax on around 10 square meters of living space. The GORCH POTT is particularly suitable for a vacation for two. Here you can enjoy life on the water in the Diamantgraben, a short branch of the Elbe, and explore the Hanseatic city from here.
Personal words from the owners Joris and Steffen: "A second life as a Tiny Boat. The boat was decommissioned by the German navy and acquired by us in 2019. By upcycling the boat and using ecological and recycled materials, the conversion is sustainable and environmentally friendly.
It was renamed GORCH POTT in reference to its time in the navy and the boat's design. Unlike the Gorch Fock, however, the refurbishment did not cost 135 million euros ;)
The Tiny Boat is equipped with a small kitchenette, a double bed, a TV, a seating area and a small toilet. So everything you need for your next vacation on the GORCH POTT is there!"
Every now and then a duck swims by, which you can watch through the porthole from your bed... And in summer you can go swimming directly on board. The GORCH POTT doesn't have its own terrace, but it's next to our wooden raft, and if that's not underway, you're welcome to stay on it so that you have an outdoor area. The bed on board is 1.40 m wide at the top, but tapers slightly towards the bottom because it adapts to the shape of the boat.
There is no bathroom on board, but there is a separate dry toilet on board. There is also a toilet and shower ashore that you can use, approx. 40 m from the boat.
Additional information: The boat can be locked from the outside with a combination lock (so you can lock it when you leave); it cannot be locked from the inside due to the boat's original opening mechanism. Our jetty is secured with a numerical code at the front of the gate, i.e. only people we know and other houseboat guests have access; there are also two private boats in the immediate vicinity of your boat, whose owners often spend the night there and always keep an eye on the facility. (There are other people from our company on the site; we make sure that one of us is always there at night). In the three years we have been here, there has never been an unauthorized person on the site, and in the year the boat has been with us there have been no problems - but of course this is unusual and we want you to know this in advance.
In the yard that you walk across to the jetty with the boats, high-quality houseboats are built by hand from wood and according to ecological standards. You will often meet carpenters and people with an affinity for boats on the site. You don't have to talk to anyone, but if you want to, you can quickly strike up a conversation. Sometimes you can hear construction noise. The surroundings are very green, but it is still Hamburg; there is a railroad bridge nearby, which you can hear more or less strongly depending on the direction of the wind. (Most people don't mind the noise).
