Turning "Old" into "New"
With a lot of effort and hard work, we transformed an old outbuilding into our rustic vacation rental, which has a special charm. The apartment has three floors. The entryway features a coat closet and a washing machine. A handcrafted spiral staircase leads up to the open-concept living and dining area. The sofa can be converted into a cozy sleeping area. The bathroom, featuring a walk-in shower, is also located here. Guests looking for a unique place to sleep can use a fold-down staircase to access the cozy, open-concept bedroom under the roof (ceiling height approx. 1.40 m). The apartment is situated in a quiet location in our backyard, in the Unterpörlitz district of Ilmenau. It’s located near the forest. There are several beautiful hiking trails, as well as a reservoir nearby. The old town is also easily accessible, whether on foot or by public transportation. This city, known for Goethe and its university, has plenty of sights to offer.
There’s a horse ranch right nearby. We have a Greek restaurant right in town and a butcher shop. A barbecue area is available in the courtyard. In the garden, we have a small playground for our younger guests. If our chickens are laying well, fresh eggs are also available upon request.
You’ll arrive as a guest and leave as a friend. We look forward to your visit.

Please note that the apartment is not wheelchair-accessible and, unfortunately, is not suitable for toddlers either. Since the spiral staircase is homemade, caution is advised when going up and down; it will be difficult for people with physical limitations.
