Natural cottage in Moddergat

In a beautiful location on the lake dike in Moddergat, we rent out a centuries-old fisherman’s cottage (a national historic landmark). The cottage can accommodate four people. Downstairs: living room with a wood-burning stove, 2 authentic bed frames, a modern kitchen with all amenities, and a bathroom with a bathtub, shower, and toilet. Upstairs: a fixed (somewhat steep, supported on both sides) staircase leads to two bedrooms, each with a double bed. The cottage is equipped with central heating, Wi-Fi, and a TV. There is a sunny, private south-facing garden and a separate bike shed.

Nature and Surroundings
The Nature Cottage is situated in an idyllic location right at the foot of the lake dike, which borders the Wadden Sea. The surroundings are characterised by tranquility and vastness; the landscape is expansive, open, and green. Paesens-Moddergat is an authentic twin village with a long history of fishing, situated right next to the Wadden Sea, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region is experiencing a tourism boom. Every year, more and more people come to the beautiful north of the Netherlands to enjoy the Wadden Sea, which is described as an exceptionally beautiful nature reserve, along with the adjacent Lauwersmeer National Park—a paradise for many birdwatchers. Dokkum (one of the Eleven Cities), with all its amenities, is about a 10-minute drive away. The village of Anjum, where you can do your daily shopping, is 4 km away. The ferry to the islands of Schiermonnikoog and Ameland is nearby, as is Leeuwarden, the capital of Friesland. Groningen is also worth a visit.
