A warm welcome to our thatched-roof house
We’ve furnished this old Frisian house just the way we like to spend our holidays: warm, unpretentious, and with everything you need—without feeling cluttered. The house is all yours during your stay—we don’t live there, and there are no other guests.
Here’s what you’ll find:
- Two cosy bedrooms with double beds [180 × 200]; a cot is also available.
- Two bathrooms—one with a shower, one with a bathtub and shower. After a windy day on the dike, the tub is worth its weight in gold.
- Living area with a TV and a large dining table for long evenings.
- A kitchen where you can really cook: dishwasher, oven, coffee maker. Spices, oil, coffee, and tea are provided—you won’t have to run out to buy them right after you arrive.
- Washing machine and dryer—handy if you have kids, a dog, or wet beach gear.
- Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace, in case you do need to get some work done.
- Sunny garden with a patio, grill, and patio furniture. In late summer, you can enjoy blackberries and plums straight from the bush for breakfast.
- 2 bicycles are available for you—Eiderstedt is flat, so biking here is a pleasure.
- A collection of games for rainy days
- Free parking right by the house
- Dogs are truly welcome here—not just tolerated.
The location—quiet, but not isolated!
Witzwort is located in the east of the Eiderstedt Peninsula between Husum and Tönning. Here, you’ll hear birds singing in the morning instead of traffic, and yet you can get anywhere quickly:
- Multimar Wattforum in Tönning: 10 minutes by car—a great option on rainy days, especially with kids
- Wadden Sea National Park and guided mudflat hikes: 12-minute drive
- Husum with its harbour, old town, and Theodor Storm House: [approx. 10 km]
- St. Peter-Ording with its endless beach: [approx. 25 km]
- Friedrichstadt, the small Dutch-style town with its canals: [approx. 8 km]
- Sylt as a day trip: by train from Husum or car train from Niebüll
Witzwort train station: [approx. 5 minutes] on foot – Husum and St. Peter-Ording are also accessible without a car. And don’t worry: you can’t hear the train from inside the house.
Shopping: [Supermarket 2 km away / Bakery in town]
[A farm dairy with fresh milk and cheese is just a few minutes away by bike]
Who our house is perfect for:
For couples who want to spend some quality time together again. For families with up to two children who find the garden and the Wadden Sea more exciting than organised activities. For dog owners, cyclists, and anyone seeking open spaces and tranquility.
Good to know:
- Check-in from 4:00 p.m., check-out by 11:00 a.m. [– via a key box, so you can arrive stress-free]
