Thiessow is located on the Mönchgut Peninsula in the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve. From Thiessow, you can set out on extended bike rides and hikes along the coast or through the Zickerschen Berge. Take a detour to the Lotsenberg and climb the Lotsenturm. From here, on a clear day, you can see the Greifswalder Oie or even as far as Peenemünde on Usedom. Nature lovers will be in their element here. Thiessow has the most diverse beach on Rügen—wide sandy beaches invite you to sunbathe and give way to a narrow pebble beach, all the way to 30-meter-high cliffs. Thiessow also has plenty to offer for the adventurous—take the opportunity to visit the surf and kite school.
Nearby, you’ll find the fishing village of Gager. Here, you can buy freshly caught fish or marvel at the fishing harbour. While you’re there, take a trip to Göhren and hop on the “Rasender Roland” narrow-gauge train for a ride through Baabe, Sellin, and Binz all the way to Putbus. Take a break at the stops along the way and visit, for example, the pier in Sellin.
Visit Mönchgut and marvel at the landscape and wildlife. Enjoy the peace and seclusion—ideal for taking a break from the stresses of everyday life.
