Amazing Cabin!

What a lovely spot! The cabin was clean and comfortable. It was just as described in the listing. The host, Laura, was very helpful! We would definitely stay here again! It is a bit of a mission down to the dock but we were warned about that and would bring lunch down and play all day.

Peace and tranquility

Had the most amazing stay at your fantastic property, thank you so much for letting us visit - its stunningly beautiful and I'd return in a heartbeat given the chance, we all loved it. Best experience for me/us was sitting out on the veranda in the evening, with the fire table lit, overlooking the lake - simply breathtaking, really was sad to leave but thank you for the prize memories.

West Kootenay Bliss

As a resident of a neighboring valley I thought I had seen all this chunk of BC had to offer but I hadn't. I was blown away by the visuals staying at this lovely cabin....and the lake was perfection. The home itself is beautiful, well fitted out, super comfy for families to spread out and of importance to me...the beds were really good. Our dogs felt quite at home as well, they enjoyed walks up the road and meeting the neighbors pooch. They thought the path down to the lake was fabulous. We brought out 24ft boat and while there isn't slips to moor in, there was a spot on the inside of the dock to tie up safely. We also had the option of mooring on a bouy if the wind picked up. It should be noted that the dock in the pictures isn't the current dock. We did have a few hiccups. Because of the steep hill down to the water, and that we had all our boating paraphenalia to haul around I asked if we could bring my brother dirt bike (he is fully licensed/insured and has a spark suppressor on his muffler) so we could use him as a mule to carry the heavier items up and down. When I booked in the fall that seems OK with Sarah however several days into our stay they told us we couldn't use it due to insurance liability reasons. I totally understand that but would have been nice to know before hauling the bike over. The second issue was mice. The owners were actively working on eliminating this issue which we appreciated but it was a fairly significant problem. We had to make modification to our sleeping habits and food storage techniques. I'm hoping they win that battle! Overall, we loved it. We would stay there again. Sarah was lovely to work with. Chris, the caretaker, is a gem. The area itself is magical.

Fantastic stay at Slocan Lake over New Years

Our group of friends rented both #566207 and #575472 over New Years 2017 and we had a fantastic time. The places are beautiful and the views are even more so! The places were very clean, cozy, and well outfitted, and the beds were very comfortable as well. The driveway was a bit icy in some spots but manageable. Sarah was great to work with and we'd definitely stay here again!

Amazing stay in the Kootenay Region high above Slocan Lake

We loved our stay in Cabin 3 --it sits the closest to the lake and mountain views, high above Slocan Lake between Slocan and New Denver, BC. The high-end "cabin" is well maintained, immaculate and beautiful--amazing full length deck and views from the entire living area and kitchen. The master suite on third level is huge, 2 bedrooms and 1 bath on main level and the additional living area, bedroom, bathroom and laundry room on the lower floor makes it so families can spread out.The pool table was an added bonus! The road in to the 5 homes is steep and 4 wheel drive made it easier to drive up from the lowest parking area in front of cabin 3. The remoteness adds to the very special feeling of truly being away from it all! New Denver is a charming "village" of a town with lake access and spectacular views of Valhalla Provincial Park. It's just a short drive to mining ghost towns and some terrific hikes. Kootenay Lake is only about an hour's drive away with the larger town of Nelson or smaller town of Kaslo to visit. Delicious lunch at Rosewood Cafe in Kaslo--Highly recommend! The house is well equipped--even has Bear spray and wasp spray! We stopped in Nelson on our way in and out, we enjoyed meals at Re-lish and The Full Circle Cafe. For a spectacular highlight don't miss Idaho Peak on a clear day--you may want to hire shuttle from Kaslo (their slogan is "If you ride with us, you're sure to arrive")--if you are squeamish about single lane, steep, steep forest service roads with severe drops (no guard rails) and hairpin, very blind turns! The breathtaking views from the hike to the top are 360 degrees and worth the crazy drive! Of course, you could just hang out and enjoy the awesome views from the cabin and deck! You can't find better views for dinner dining. We ate in every night and just enjoyed the peace, quiet and starry nights! A wonderful "retreat" vacation! Sarah was responsive, helpful and informative.

Relaxing and breathtaking!

This cabin was so great for a our large family to stay in:) We all had ample space so it didn't feel crowded:) the view from the deck and pretty much anywhere in the house is so beautiful! Even when it rained:) the big table held the whole family comfortably. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The beds were comfortable and all the rooms were great. There were extra linens. The three bathrooms were also a major plus as the whole family had to get ready for a wedding. We really enjoyed the pool table. We found some hikes to do in and around the cabin and the little towns were cute. I would Highly recommend this place to friends. The only thing that I would warn them about is the hill that you have to drive down right at the cabin is very steep. But we didn't have a problem in the truck.

Look no further...

The pictures don't even begin to do this place justice... You have to experience it for yourself. The accommodations are first class, clean and include all of the modern amenities. We cooked every night and the house was furnished everything we needed. My wife and I were searching for a place that would be off the grid, unplug, recharge and we got just that. It snowed lightly every morning which only added to the relaxation and tranquility. There are plenty of trails to walk with your furry friends including a nice little hike down to the lake front. The on-site host was very nice and responsive to our questions. The toughest part of the stay was leaving! This place will certainly be on our favorite list and we'll looking forward to seeing what beauty it has to offer in the summer.

Peaceful Getaway

We spent 6 nights in cabin 3. The cabin is nicely decorated, spacious and contains all the amenities you need. The king bed in the master suite is very comfortable and we had the best sleeps. We especially enjoyed the natural beauty and remoteness of the area. The location of the cabin has an amazing view overlooking Slocan lake and we spent our mornings drinking coffee while enjoying the spectacular view. In addition to resting and relaxing, we enjoyed the variety of activities to do in the area; including biking, hiking, canoeing on the lake, as well as exploring the nearby towns and learning about the local history. We would highly recommend this location to those looking to getaway from it all. We will definitely be returning next year!

Remote interior BC

Stunning views, fabulous dock, amazing home with everything you need. Our family had a great time. In recommending it to others I would say be prepared to do a lot of driving. Even to hikes and biking trails, nothing is super close. The walk down to the dock is a bit unstable you must be careful. Coming back from the dock back up is a haul (you don't want to forget anything). Wifi was not good and the cell service was sketchy, tough for people who have to work or check in with the office.

Didn't want it to end

We spent 4 nights there with our family and did not want to leave! The location is absolutely beautiful, the cabin has everything you need, and the beds are the most comfy I have ever slept in away from home. So many things to do in the area, so many things to do right at the cabin. This is truly a great holiday getaway!

Our stay in cabin 3

We fully enjoyed ourselves. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cabin is decorated beautifully. Our family used the pooltable and the kayaks that were provided. I would recommend this location to anyone who would like a remote getaway!

Girl's getaway

We had an amazing weekend! The views, the deck, the rooms, the kitchen, the dock and lake, all exceeded our expectations. I can't give this place enough stars. We were slightly worried about the trek down to the water but it was no problem, even for our over-due pregnant friend. If you want a relaxing lake environment untouched by boats, views untouched by logging, and to feel like you're in paradise..... this is the spot. We will be back for sure!

We spend two weeks every August at our cottage on Slocan Lake and it's my favorite place on earth. I love nothing more than spending time on that deck, taking in the spectacular views and enjoying the quiet.

Why they chose this property

'The Kootenays are one of the last great places in all of North America. It is the safest, least touched, cheapest, most visually dramatic recreation area left.'
