Decent place for larger group

There were people staying in the house a few yards from the one we rented when we first got there. They weren't super friendly and made us a little uncomfortable with their stares and walk-bys to the garbage. Fortunately the men left then next day and we had the space to ourselves the rest of our visit. It was just disappointing that we were required to rent for a minimum of three nights, but shared the property one of them. It wasn't clear to us from the description how close the two houses would be and it seemed like there would be more of a yard than there was. The water had a really bad taste so we wound up buying bottled water. One of the burners on the stove also didn't work. I wished there were better instructions on how they wanted us to handle things like laundry after we used it and garbage (we assumed to put the garbage out in the bin and the towels in the laundry room). There were plenty of miscellaneous things around for anyone who might have forgotten something, which was helpful. It was also nice to be so close to the beach and to have a bonfire ring for the evenings. We made do with the lawn space we had to play the games we brought. All in all it was a nice place for a larger group (we had 12).

Great place for a big group

Big, clean and comfortable would easily describe this location. Everything about the stay for our 3 generations of extended family of 10 was easy here. The gas grill made it easy when it rained and we didn't feel like using the charcoal grill and the fire pit and all the chairs made evenings fun. The huge table meant we could all eat together and play cards in the evening. Definitely a good rental for a large group!

Comfortable Place

We had a group of 13 in ages from 7 to 84 and overall this place was very suitable for our short stay in Au Gres. Must keep in mind this is a HUNTING LODGE not a resort. There was a minor problem with the oven, but we worked that out. Has a large dining area and the table seats at least 14. Plenty of room to move around in. We brought in plenty of water for drinking, coffee, brushing teeth. I am very familiar with the water in the area. I was a little disappointed that the private fishing pond was not at this location. We had to drive a few miles and then it was about 1/2 mile off the road. A 4x4 vehicle would be needed if the weather was wet. The younger members of our group probably wouldn't like to fish there anyway so we scratched that idea. Fortunately we had access to a boat and were able to do a little fishing on the bay. The bottom line is YES! I would stay there if I needed lodging for a group.

Cool place for larg family get together

For someone who planned on cooking for a large group I had a hard time with the cook ware. Skillets were nasty scratched Teflon and oven was to dirty to use. Bedding was decent and plenty of games to keep everyone busy. Park close by was great for kids and some fishing area. Could tell used mostly by hunters who don’t pay attention to cleanliness. Overall had a good time with family. Would I go back? No , not my personal cup of tea.

Great for large group, amenities we're convenient, lots of space to gather inside and out.

The multiple bedrooms were a plus for our group of 11 with 2 full baths. Lots of space to gather with open floor plan in TV and dining area. The Home Away App shared everything that we needed during the rental period. The amenities including WiFi, Netflix, large kitchen and bedding/towels was a bonus from other rental experiences. I was disappointed about the lack of defined walking trails on the property as the acreage was intriguing to our group. We had beautiful fires thanks to the provided firewood! We played the Huron Breeze course and appreciated their hospitality. Overall, the group enjoyed our trip - thank you for having us!

Unique Spacious Lodge - Minutes from Rifle River

Place was unique to say the least. Wall mounts were definitely a topic when you entered the room - must be plenty of family history behind them. Rented this spacious lodge for our annual family canoe trip and with 6 bedrooms and 2 baths it was just right for our family of 12. Family room/kitchen had everything you needed and then some. Had some rain but was still able to have bonfires every night along with smores and it's always a plus when the firewood is ready available. Barbequed one night on the gas grill and ordered pizza from down the street - we picked it up but they actually do deliver. Great restaurants in town and the Rifle River and Russel's canoe livery were only minutes away - we opted to rent rafts instead of tubes as it was a little chilly on Saturday morning but we had a great time. There was plenty of parking and a large area for playing our outdoor games - CanJam and Beanbag Toss. There is also another smaller cabin adjacent to the lodge which you can rent if you had a family reunion and needed more space but I do think it would have been a little awkward if somebody was renting it because it is literally right next door which means you wouldn't have the place to yourself and you would be sharing the firepit/property with strangers. I didn't realize this until after the fact but nobody rented it so it had no effect on us. The owner, Mary, was easy to reach and responded quickly to all my emails and provided me with plenty of information regarding the canoe liveries in the area. Although, it seems to be a "Hunter's Paradise", it definitely has many other qualities that makes it a "Unique Place for All".

Great place for a guys weekend!

This property easily accomodated our large group for a long weekend. There was not a guy in our group that was not impressed by the display of the camps history and its passion for White Tail (very cool). There were a couple of hiccups that were addressed in a timely manner by the owners Chris and Mary. Both were very helpful and accomodating. The property is close to the lake. We slipped our boat at the Campgound Marina which is about 5 minutes down the road. There are 3 golf courses within 15 minutes of the propery. As stated, great place for a guys weekend/outing!

Great Place - Will definitely rent again

What a great location! Small town with access to the rifle river just down the road for tubing and kayaking. The owners were extremely easy to work with and they made our stay an unforgettable one. The kids had a blast playing outside in the woods. We saw a ton of wildlife including herds of deer! We had some others friends of the family up there with us so the extremely large living room was great as we were all able to play games as family in one area. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful lodge, accommodates large parties well

I took a party of 12 here for a few days and had a wonderful time. The owners were easily reachable and very helpful. Clean, spacious, with ample kitchen facilities and sleeps a large party easily. Lots of really cool mounts on the walls. We got to explore the trails and do some fishing and relax in nature a bit, but at the end of the day we could still cook big meals in a kitchen, take showers and have beds! Highly recommended.

I miss this wonderful place of retreat already!

I was very impressed with the spacious and private lodging this place offers. We had visited here before and found the miles of private walking trails, private ponds and ample wildlife a blessing and a great get away from the city. We are planning to return A.S.A.P. I would recommend this lodge for anyone who wants to leave the rest of the world behind and get a glimpse of nature and serenity in a private setting. :-)
