The building is part of a historic fortress complex that was originally constructed by Prussia in the 18th century and later expanded by Saxony. The so-called “Bridgehead” served as the main storage depot, with the first floor being used to store grenades and dynamite. In 1813, Napoleon ordered modifications to the structure before setting out with his Grande Armée on the campaign against Russia. The former stables of Napoleon’s horses were located directly next to the building.
To this day, the fortress ramparts and moat remain visible and provide a natural habitat for badgers, foxes, deer, and wild boar. Our holiday apartment is located on the ground floor of the former howitzer fortifications, combining historical character with modern comfort.
As a special extra, your dogs are warmly welcome, allowing the whole family to enjoy a relaxing stay together. Please note that a shooting range is located approximately 200 meters away and is generally in operation on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., as well as occasionally on other days. Despite this, the surrounding area offers beautiful natural scenery and walking trails, perfect for leisurely outings and exploring the local landscape.
For an even more relaxing stay, we also offer a special wellness option: upon request, you can book a private yoga session with Marie Thiele directly at the apartment. It is the perfect way to unwind, recharge, and enjoy some personal time. Prices are arranged individually.
