Crystal Lake is home to an age-old roller rink that is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The local stock car track has races every Saturday night weather permitting. There are several quality restaurants within 1/2 hour drive. Access to an extensive paved bike/walking trail is twenty minutes away, or you can join many others in their daily walk/bike five miles around our beautiful lake. The Crystal Box Office theatre is a classic old small-town theatre that operates Friday through Sunday, with inexpensive small town prices to boot. Or, walk to the local ice cream parlor for your favorite hand-dipped cone or sundae.

About Scott Matteson
I have been around Crystal Lake all my life; as a kid coming to my grandparents cottage which they purchased in the '30's and is still in the family today. Libbie and I are both retired (sort of) and have lived here full time for the last 20 years with our current rescue pets Harley the Standard Poodle and Ivy the little Pittie.
Scott Matteson purchased this cottage in 2004
Why Scott Matteson chose Crystal
We purchased the "red cottage" in 2004 at the same time we purchased our current lakefront home. We then lived in it for 9 months while our future home was renovated. It is located right next to the old family cottage I spent many summer days at as a youth. Back then I couldn't believe that someone would build a cottage on "our play yard" , but I always admired the cottage, especially the enclosed sunporch and the large oak trees dotting the property.
What makes this cottage unique
The "red cottage" offers both privacy and serenity at its well-shaded double lot, plus access to beautiful Crystal Lake with its own private dock. There are not very many rental cottages at Crystal Lake that offer lake frontage, and I believe we are the only ones that have a pontoon available to rent with the cottage.
