Fantastic Studio in Upscale Farming Community,

Enjoy this modern solar powered private guest suite in a luxury home owners residence with separate entry, located on a 5 acre coffee plantation. Our home is far from the main road. A great place to relax after a day at the beach or trip to the many sites of the Big Island. Features king bed, washer and dryer, compact fridge, high speed WiFi and 32” smart TV (that can stream Netflix) with a local cable TV package.

There is a garden hose next to the Lanai that can be used wash your beach toys or diving gear.

What: Art enclave in the heart of Kona coffee country

Where: On the slopes above Historic Kailua Village (Kailua-Kona) and Keauhou. The active lava flows are on the opposite side of the island. We would recommend a helicopter tour for the best views of the activity.


Java is the juice that powers Holualoa, the little village and art enclave in the heart of Kona coffee country. This is a great place to taste the rich flavors of 100% pure Kona coffee, a rare commodity exclusively grown in north and south Kona. Visit some of the great coffee mills and sample their coffee like Blue Sky Coffee company, Hula Daddy and Kona Joe.

On the East side of the Island , The Hawaii Tourism Authority notes the impact is limited to a remote region on the east side of the island . The closest resort areas, in Kona and the Kohala Coast on the island’s west side, are more than 100 miles away from the lava flow. Those tourist areas are shielded by the massive mountains of Maunakea and Maunaloa, the tourism authority said.

Rural retreat in Kona coffee belt

We had a lovely stay. Beth was very responsive to any questions. The room was very comfortable and clean. The area is quiet and beautiful. Several mornings and afternoons we could smell the neighbors roasting their coffee. A lovely cool retreat after a hot day at the beach .

Quiet and nice place.

Quiet and nice place, very clean and comfortable. 20 minutes from Kailua center and 15 minutes from supermarket. You miss a table and chairs to eat. If you are going to compete in the Ironman, a good place to rest. The temperature is lower than Ali'i Drive and everyday rain, but to train the bike and the run you have to go down to the coast, since from the house the unevenness is considerable. If I go back to Hawaii, I would not mind repeating in this room.

Clean well appointed apartment in a wonderful location.

Right in the heart of coffee country and beautiful grounds all around (no pun intended). We visited a bontanical garden and by comparison found the coffee farm a much more attractive setting. Being off the tourist track, it offers a quiet and restful retreat. The brief visitations by a flock of green parrots were a special treat. Holualoa Village was a frequent and enjoyable stop, and all that Kailua-Kona had to offer was right down the hill. It was ideal.

Great Value! Amazing Location!

We spent a great time in this appartment which was very clean and extremely well equipped with everything you needed for a great stay. We really enjoyed the privacy of this property. Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities, room comfort

Quiet, peaceful Mountain retreat.

This place was amazing. The owners have really thought about what vacationers need and made this a comfortable, homelike place to stay. What you get for your money is amazing. The kitchen is well equipped. We had everything we needed to cook great meals for a fraction of what eating out costs. The only thing I could have wanted was a drain tray for dishes. Eating on the lanai watching the cows and horses, roosters and chickens, and even a few turkeys was so peaceful. Washer and dryer.... can't say enough about how nice that was. And the thing I enjoyed the most.... the bed. I always dread vacations because of beds. This one was super comfortable, honestly wish I could take it home with me and after a day at the beach or hiking, it was almost instant lights out. I would highly recommend this place. We were testing out living here and wanted a good estimate of what groceries and stuff really cost for 2 people. Plus, renting places like this and cooking for yourself makes it easier to stay a few more days here . . . Cause you just can't have to much Hawaii. And honestly, we spent our first night at the Royal Kona Resort for like twice what this cost.... and this was way better!

Wonderful quiet place to relax in.

This studio on a coffee farm was a perfect place to explore the Big Island. The studio was well equipped with everything you might need for cooking meals or equipment for a day at the beach. Roger & Beth were always quick to answer our texts and calls. We stayed for the month of February and certainly would do so again. Lovely place to stay if you like quiet cool evenings.

Nice, clean and quiet.

It is a studio with a large lanai which can be used as living/dining room. This property, as well as the neighbors properties, are about 5 acres. That means a quiet, rural setting. We enjoyed the stay there in January 2018. It is 20 minutes from town, at higher elevation. That means the nights are cooler. Everything was clean and quality. The owners were very responsive for any issues. They responded right away to texts, phone calls or emails. They always tried to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. We recommend the place for anyone looking for a quiet place and cooler nights.

Clean, well kept in a really quiet area, yet easily accessible to Kona.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The only glitch was the wash machine had died prior to our 10 day stay and wasn't repaired while we were there. Luckily the owners helped us resolve our need to do a bit of laundry, Thank you!! The only suggestion to make this better would be a table inside to eat at, as the table on the porch is cool in January's late evenings.

Wonderful spot

This is a wonderfully peaceful spot set up the mountain on a coffee farm. It has everything you could want. My only suggestion would be a larger fridge. This was our second time staying here and certainly won't be our last, we loved it. Beth was very quick to respond to text messages with a few questions. we can't wait to return next year. Great value!

My wife and I just returned from a 2-week trip to the Big Island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. It is not on the shore (which some people like), but you can take the money you save and buy lots of souvenirs. Beth was very responsive to our questions, which we appreciated. We loved the quietness of the location. It is away from the traffic of Kailua-Kona and closer to the small community of Holualoa. The birdlife on the property was also great. We spent much of our time snorkeling and had no problem reaching our favorite locations. We were a little concerned about the capacity of the kitchen, but this concern turned out to be unfounded. We had most of our meals here and encountered no issues. The king size bed was also great. There is one last bonus to consider. No air conditioning was needed here. At more than 2,000 feet elevation, it was easy to stay cool. We will consider staying here in the future.

Kona Koffee Plantation Adventure

This studio apartment was much more spacious and neatly outfitted than it appeared in on-line photos. The location offered a beautiful view (from the driveway) of the coastline below, as well as manicured tropical plantations all around. Only 6 miles from downtown Kailoa-Kona and 2.5 from the retro feeling village of Holualoa. Many beautiful beaches and Farmer's Markets nearby. The bed was comfortable, the fan kept us cool enough. There were the following Issues: The space is very humid and it smelled of mildew (no dehumidifier available). We hadn't been told beforehand that the TV was only for Netflix and other streaming services, not for regular viewing (CBS, ABC, etc). Three out of 4 devices available to cook food (hot plate, induction oven and toaster) all required a specially designed outlet, which was hidden from view on kitchen counter. Nobody mentioned that wild turkeys roamed the property and had the disconcerting habit of pooping all over the lanai, including on its table and chairs; when I asked the owner about this, I was told to wave them away & not worry. She did NOT mention that there was a hose around side of house that we could use to wash away the voluminous bird droppings. Other than that, we enjoyed out stay.

Hawaiian Hideaway Amidst the Coffee Bean Groves

First off, the property was easy to find and drive to from the airport (the advent of smart phones with map apps helps immensely). The property is located high in the hills above Kailua-Kona, and, again from the airport, Costco is on the way to it and a Safeway Grocery Store is nearby as well. It is secluded, away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy spots. The tranquility is lovely. It is amazing, however, how many birds are singing. At night all of nature comes alive with "noise" (bugs, birds, cows mooing, horses neighing). It is probably 10 degrees cooler than at the shore and it rains more, but that just means the area is lusher and greener. Very beautiful. The studio is well maintained with wi-fi and Netflix, which was fantastic. The closet is very spacious and all the amenities, such as a washer/dryer, are very nice. If you want to experience a more serene, authentic Hawaiian getaway instead of being with the visitors in the cookie cutter timeshares in Waikoloa or with all the confused tourists in cramped Kailua-Kona town, this is the place for you. Also, the price is outstanding.

Awesome!

This place is awesome! The best word to describe the coffee palace is quality because everything about it is like 5 star lodging. The requirements of a comfortable bed and a clean space are obviously there, but there is so much more. The kitchen equipment is superb quality and was perfect for preparing meals, I plan to upgrade some of my kitchen equipment to what I found here. The 4 qt. stainless steel triple clad pan/wok was great for making single pot meals. The flat bottom with high walls is a great design that I have never found in cookware, maybe because it was made in Brazil. The pyrex set with high quality silicone sealed gasket lids was perfect for taking leftovers in the cooler to the beach the next day, or baking a fritta in. The Breville convection toaster oven was the best I have ever used and will be upgrading mine to that brand/model. Every little detail was perfect all the way to the floor mat for standing on while doing the dishes, I never knew those could be so comfortable (now I need that kind at home also). To add to the new things I will be buying is a whole new line of personal care products. Discovering the “Personal Paradise” product line of shampoo and body lotion was something I never expected to find at vacation lodging, but was waiting for me to try here. The coconut fragrance is heavenly and all the ingredients are natural, no chemicals. Clearly everything about the owners Beth and Roger is of the highest quality and it shows in everything they have done for this place. The artwork, light fixtures, granite counter tops, bathroom fixtures and even the wood molding is just so tastefully done and much nicer than what I have at home, I was living like a millionaire (lol). And beyond all this the highlight of my vacation I found in a place I least expected, the porch/lanai right outside my door, which by the way had the nicest and most comfortable patio furniture I have ever seen. But, it was the acoustics of the place that made it for me. I explore places all over Utah and Arizona looking for canyons and coves to enhance the sound of my native american flute, I have never found anything close to the sound I found here. What a huge surprise! Thanks so much Beth and Roger for creating and sharing such an island paradise!

Peaceful Paradise

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Beth and Roger's place for almost 2 months, and could not have been happier with the visit. Located on a beautiful coffee farm in the hills of Holualoa, we loved spending the mornings on the lanai enjoying the neighboring wildlife and the cool nights watching the sunsets. Inside, the place was fully stocked. Being an extended stay the only challenge we faced was the small refrigerator, but we managed and found that it really wasn't an issue. Tons of closet space, a great desk, beach chairs/snorkel gear/ coolers and the incredible bed also made for a great stay. Again, couldn't have been happier with the place. Thanks again!

Up Country Coffee Farm Studio

We recently stayed at Roger and Beth's Holualoa studio for two weeks. The studio is exactly as advertised. It suited our needs very well. Perfect for a single person or a couple. Beth was very responsive to the few questions we had. If you are looking for a quiet place away from the tourist atmosphere of town, then this is the place for you. You will need a car, as it is a solid 20 minutes to Kona. This property is up country, so the weather is cooler than at sea level - be sure to pack a hoodie. During our stay, we had work to complete, which required internet connectivity. The internet is very reliable with very good speeds. The only slight downside is the small size of the refrigerator, a mini. We would have cooked many more meals at the studio if the refrigerator was bigger, but the small size made meal planning challenging. Otherwise, the kitchen (actually, the entire studio) is well stocked with everything you'll need during your stay. The washer/dryer is a welcomed convenience too. Many extras for your use and convenience: beach chairs, cooler, beach towels, reuseable shopping bags, laundry detergent, paper towels, bathroom toiletries etc. Highly recommended!

Peace and Quiet Near Kona!

Very nice studio, nestled in the hills 15 mins above Kona. Very modern, clean, quiet and beautiful scenery. Well appointed with everything you need. We loved waking up to turkeys, chickens and birds singing. The only thing I'd point out is there is no cable, but who needs it, you're in Hawaii! Steve and Ada

Beautiful place away from the city

This place is absolutely beautiful and away from the hustle and bustle of the town. It's a ways UP the mountain, but it's certainly worth the trip! It was so quite and cool up there sleeping was wonderful. When we woke we enjoyed Kona coffee while staring at a 5 acre coffee farm and horses up the mountain. The studio contains everything you may need to prepare your own meals and a washer and dryer! The only thing that would make the studio even nicer is a larger fridge, that certainly won't stop us from returning to this spectacular place!! Mahalo, Michelle & Brian

Coffee Farm Studio

The setting of the studio was rural and peaceful with an old Hawaiiana country feel. The room was, as some have noted, clean and modern with a comfortable king-sized bed. The two-burner hot plate, microwave, mini-frig' and toaster oven were enough for our needs, we ate at the coffee table on the porch. We did buy a fair amount of coffee at the tasting rooms, so having filters for the coffee maker would've been helpful. Having the Netflix and the beach gear were nice bonuses. I could see what others have said about the louvered doors, but there were no occupants on the other side, so privacy was not an issue. The location was great for coffee tasting and visiting Mauna Kea and the Kohala coast, as well as, Kailua Kona.
