Watch orcas swim by as you enjoy your morning coffee on the large stone deck. Other great wildlife viewing includes seals, porpoises, otters, eagles, mink, deer. Gorgeous ocean views from all south-facing windows. 2 Queen beds, plus 2 Twin cots (with foam mattresses). Full bath has shower/tub combo. Fully equipped kitchen: fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, etc. Steps out the back door to the pebble beach. Kids will enjoy beach combing and exploring tidal pools full of starfish, hermit crabs, sea cucumbers and more! Large grassy lawns on 2 acre property great for kids. 5 minute drive to Poet's Cove Resort, with a full service spa, restaurants, pub, public swimming pool, playground. Rent a kayak or canoe on your own, or book a tour through Poet's Cove Marina. Beautiful Brooks Point Regional Park is just a short stroll along the beach, with some of the last remaining Garry Oak Meadow habitat in the Gulf Islands. It boasts views of Vancouver Island to the West, the San Juan Islands to the South and Mt. Baker to the East - a photographers dream!

Peaceful and Adventurous

The location was right on the low bank waterfront and we were fascinated watching the tides roll in and out. Wonderful water birds played out on the water and the host's binoculars were perfect. Lots of opportunities to get out and walk along the beaches, coves and out to the point with beautiful views. A lovely and unique location that is hard to match at such a reasonable price.

This Property is Special!

Tucked away in its own spot away from it all, yet just minutes to Poet's Cove Resort, this home is awesome! Spotlessly clean and well appointed. Just steps from the beach. From the deck or the living room, enjoy watching the surf, wildlife and cruise ships! Highly recommend.

Stunning and private getaway

This waterfront location is so beautiful and quiet. Enjoy nature from inside the cottage thru all the windows or outside from large comfy seating area. Walkable beach infront of the cottage or walk the rural roads to Brooks Point.the cottage is well stocked with everything you ma need.

Wonderful

This was the perfect family getaway. Our 4 YO loved being able to make multiple trips to the beach each day. We loved that we could still enjoy the views while our youngest was napping. The cottage had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Amazing

We’ve stayed at amazing vacation rentals all of the world and this was our absolute favorite. We saw orcas, a humpback whale, seals, sea lions, otters, eagles, herons, and so much more just while relaxing on the back patio.

one of the best on the southern Gulf Islands

This property and location has what you are looking for. Do nothing, relax, read a book, walk the beach, watch the wildlife, nap in the sun. Do everything, bike, hike, golf, get out on the water. Eat in or eat out. Perfect!

Fantastic!

We have stayed on various Gulf Island properties over the years and this spot is excellent! The view is spectacular and your a short beach walk away from the most beautiful park on the island and one of the nicest in the all the Gulf Islands. The host was very helpful, easy to work with and easy to communicate with. The property is well appointed. The kitchen is well stocked with various sizes of pots and pans and other cookware, bowls, blender etc. It is really the best I have encountered for a while and made life much easier when cooking; with a view! The home was nice and clean and you can't beat the view from the living area and primary bedroom. Great water pressure in the shower, it was just a hit overall. There is a lot of local wildlife out front as well which is very entertaining. We didn't see the Orcas but were very lucky to see Humpbacks transiting through! Looking forward to the next visit.

Beyond our Expectations!

This home is situated steps from the ocean, an easy walk to beautiful trails and minutes from Poet's Cove Resort with its amenities. It is tastefully yet comfortably appointed with a wood burning fireplace, deck chairs and a large, modern kitchen. We loved it and hope to return.

Whales and beach magic!

little piece of paradise

Within a few hours of waking from our slumber the first morning at Higgs St. house we saw three seals sunning themselves on the rocky output inside the bay, several seals, a couple of sea lions (!), several adorable sea otters, great blue herons, magestic bald eagles and beautiful Harlequin waterfowl. All within this beautiful, private and sheltered little bay, Drummond Bay. It was absolute magic and to our delight this natural habitat and wildlife within it became part of our daily viewing. We didn't see any whales....perhaps next trip! We've always known Pender Island to be magical in some way, but this stay confirmed it. We took the opportunity to explore many trails (Enchanted Forest, George Hill, Clam Bay, Oak Bluffs to name a few....) but honestly we loved our daily walks down the road to the point meandering the waterfront. On our last day we had the tremendous delight to see the most incredible jellyfish we've ever seen....we looked it up and it was most likely Phacellophora camtschatica, commonly known as a fried egg (or egg yolk) jellyfish. Absolutely spectacular! So the only thing we missed seeing were whales....no whales-maybe next trip! The cottage! Well, there isn't much to say because it is Perfect and the photos represent it well. It was super comfortable, warm (even through a power outage) and we had all that we needed to be self sufficient. (The only thing we would suggest is a recycling bin.) We were also fortunate enough that the cottage was available for us to extend our stay when a family member at home was getting sick (and we wanted to avoid our germy household!) and John was quick to respond to our inquiry. On that note, John is an amazing host, easy to communicate with, informative and quick to respond. Thank you John and Janis for sharing your beautiful little paradise. We are so very grateful and hope to return again soon.

Our favorite stay so far!

This is a such beautiful serene property! The cottage has floor to ceiling windows that overlook the ocean and skylights, very bright and spacious, perfect for 2 couples. There were lots of thoughtful touches like boardgames, excellent binoculars and a book about local birds, and a cozy woodburning fireplace... the list goes on. We saw a group of dolphins, and a seal right from the patio. We brought our kayaks and this was the perfect place to launch them from. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing!

An absolutely wonderful stay yet again at this property! John is an impeccable host and so accommodating. We love this home for the wildlife and nature did not disappoint……seals, otters, porpoise, sea lions, orcas (3 different days) and lots of bird life especially the hummingbirds (I love them). We hope to return again and again!!! Thanks a bunch!

What a wonderful location to relax and watch the beautiful nature outside your door. Tasteful renovations that maximize the view of the ocean / skyline. We passed the time watching the boats and the birds go by. Excellent place to explore and recharge your batteries. Highly recommended for a coupe or a small family getaway!

Lots of marine life! Quiet spot. Lovely cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! We live remotely rural in Alberta so the public beach access to the right of the property took some getting used to. Urban dwellers would probably not find this an issue. Definitely would return again if given the opportunity.

A piece of Heaven on Earth

We were delighted to return to this cabin, which is our favourite VRBO property. The oceanfront location, cozy accommodations, spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing always recharges our batteries and makes us feel on top of the world! A Lovely Stay...

We have wanted to stay at this cottage for a few years but we could never get the dates to work out. This year we finally were able to book a stay and it was as lovely as we expected. What a fabulous location and what a beautifully decorated and well organized home away from home. The views are spectacular and at times you feel as if you are on a boat as you look directly at the waves. We were lucky to experience a storm with waves crashing on the rocks as well as brilliant sunshine that was perfect for watching the resident sea lions relaxing on the rocks. The fireplace was a delight and the woodshed is generously stocked. We loved every minute and hope our calendars will connect once again someday soon!

Spotless cottage with breathtaking views

We were on Pender for a winter getaway, so we appreciated that the cottage is warm, comfortable and very well equipped. It’s also quite beautiful with a modern but cosy feel. It was wonderful to be able to light a fire in the fireplace in the evening. We loved the views of the water. The cottage is organized to have spectacular views from the living room/dining room, kitchen and one of the bedrooms and we spent hours watching sunrises and sunsets, and watching seals, eagles and on one occasion whales with the binoculars provided. The cottage was also spacious enough to host family for informal gatherings. I highly recommend this cottage and the property owner.

Our family is in Vancouver and we wanted a retreat where we could get together, to relax and get away from the city.

Why they chose this property

Our search for a family retreat was over as soon as we saw this property. Having looked at properties on all of the Gulf Islands, this was the only south-facing, low bank oceanfront/beachfront with expansive views of the water. We knew immediately that it was the one!

What makes this property unique

The ocean view is simply stunning and the beach is literally a stone's throw from the house. Whether we are sitting on the deck or in the living room, even at the sink in the kitchen, we can't take our eyes off of it and the abundant wildlife it is home to.
