The Spuihuisje is located next to the famous Koppelpoort and a small cafe. The Koppelpoort, the calling card of historic Amersfoort, is a unique combination of a land gate and a water gate, the only one in the Netherlands! This gate dates from 1425 and also gives access to the "new" and "old" part of Amersfoort.
The modern Eemplein is located on one side of the Koppelpoort, where you can go to the cinema, go to the KADE museum or rent a sloop. You can also have a bite to eat in the various restaurants such as Dara, Sushi Today. If you continue your walk along the Eem you can take a look at "The new city".
The other side of the Koppelpoort offers you plenty of opportunities to sample culture in the old town of Amersfoort in the Flehite museum, the Mondriaanhuis, climb the "Lange Jan" or be part of the current festivities. An extensive city walk or a canal cruise with the Waterlijn should of course not be missed during your visit.
Because of its central location there are countless cycle routes in the area, but also further away towards the Soesterduinen or the Treek is definitely recommended. Highly recommended is the Eemlijn bicycle boat, which arranges a boat trip every day from the Eemhaven - near the Spuihuisje - with boarding places in Soest, Baarn, Eemdijk, Huizen or Spakenburg, and ends again in Amersfoort.
