Our week in Ménerbes at Mouschetty was good. The property certainly lends itself to large groups.
The Pro's
The property is well situated, within walking distance to the lovely village of Ménerbes.
Nice pool area.
Great outdoor dining spaces.
Frederick, the onsite property manger was great. We were able to communicate through our messaging app's.
The Con's
Our first morning after arrival, a line of hundreds of ants were making their way across the kitchen counter to the toaster. I reported this to Frederick to which he replied "For the ants I can not do anything today but know that here in the countryside there are inevitably insects I would come tomorrow in the morning to put a product Good day"... I resolved the issue by going to the store and buying an insect spray.
I also reported that my 9 month old grandson, domiciled in the annex, was crawling on the floor and was absolutely dark with dirt, suggesting that we need to have the floor washed, particularly given a significant post cleaning charge...Frederick must have reached out to the house keeper then replied "Hello. for the household it was done as well as the floors as always before the arrival of the tenants"... we resolved the issue by washing the floor, ourselves.
The bedrooms are a good size but disjointed. Bedrooms open into bedrooms and there is no common access point. Two upper bedrooms are accessed from a rear stair and two bedrooms are accessed from a staircase by the kitchen. The bedrooms can all be accessed from either staircase but that requires that you walk through a bedroom or two. Good for adults not for small children.
There is no plastic stemware for use by the pool.
Travelling through the south of France we had occasion to stay at a home near Grasse. The email we received prior to our arrival at the Grasse home..."We provide a welcome pack with essentials to get you started, toilet paper there is plenty. There will be some wine and beer in the fridge and butter, milk, bread, jam, some fresh bread, a little cheese and a fruit bowl. Some nibbles to settle you in before the shop."
I would contrast that with the email prior to our arrival at 'Mouschetty' ... "Please note that guests have the possibility of purchasing Espresso coffee cartridges s(X€'s for a pack of 10) and a household-product kit (for €XX) ... "
I would suggest that the owner incorporate the XX Euro charge into the rental charge and provide a nice welcome pack to the tenants.
The house has good bones but a 3 rating could be a 4 with some minor changes.
