A lovely gite, well equipped, with private terraces and a shared heated pool
We know how important location is to get the best from your holiday, which is why we know you will enjoy your stay with us at Le Bouchet and we only have two gites, each with its own private landscaped areas to make sure you have as peaceful and relaxing time as possible. Le Bouchet is located in the quiet, beautiful wooded countryside of the Touraine region in the Loire Valley yet only five minutes from Descartes with its shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets and well within reach of the major Loire chateaux and vineyards. The local area is a rich haven for wildlife, with red deer and wild boar roaming around and buzzards crying out as they circle overhead; herons and many different types of wild birds are often seen in and around the local lake. We have tried to extend that environment into the gardens at Le Bouchet which are extensively landscaped and planted to attract the wildlife while at the same time offering you the amenities you need to enjoy your holiday, the large heated pool with its own terrace where you can keep an eye on the little ones, a picnic area overlooking the pool and a play area with swings, slide and goals for a game of football. Our two gites have been renovated to a very high standard providing all the necessary facilities you need to get the most from your holiday, including free EV charging. This gite, Les Ecuries has been restored from what were the old horse stables and many of the original beams and features have been retained to provide comfortable, spacious accommodation that has been designed to be as handicapped friendly as possible and includes:
Upstairs: · One double bedroom with its own lounge area. · A bedroom with three single beds. · Both bedrooms have air conditioning units, fans and hair dryers · Large family bathroom with shower cubicle, hand basin, toilet and heater
Downstairs: · One double bedroom · Large wet room with walk-in shower, hand basin, toilet and heater. Grab rails are provided throughout together with a shower stool. The wet room is tiled with non-slip tiles · Fully fitted, well equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and coffee machine. · Open plan living/dining area with comfortable seating and large table easily seating 7 · WiFi internet access · UK and French Satellite TV and CD Player · French doors off the lounge lead to a same level decked terrace with a pergola, table, chairs and barbecue. This terrace provides access to two further private terraces and also to a ramp providing access to the pool terrace. All the terraces are suitable for wheelchairs and there is also ramped access from the parking area into the gite itself.

Beautifully appointed holiday accommodation with a very warm welcome. There is an abundance of local sites as well as the local markets in Descartes and loche. The on site pool is perfect for lazy days around the gite. Trevor and Sue are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. To top off the great accommodation is the welcome pack to ensure the essentials are ready when you arrive. We had an amazing stay.

Thanks Beth, it was so nice to have you all back for a second year!
Excellent property, very well maintained and cared for. Superb pool, shaded eating out area and plenty of sun terraces to follow the sun all day long. Ideal area for visiting the many Loire Chateaux's. Supermarkets and restaurants close by in the local village. Made to feel very welcome, could not fault.

Fijne gite in mooie omgeving
Fijne gite die van alle gemakken voorzien is. Het terras is erg mooi en groot.
Minpuntje waren de eigenaren, waarbij het soms leek alsof ze liever geen gasten zouden ontvangen.

Great family place
This place is immaculate and is a credit to the owners, ideal for families the Gites are well kitted out and the welcome package of fruit, cheese, milk, orange and bread is a nice touch. We as a couple didn;t take full advantage of the heated outdoor pool as the weather during our visit proved
to be unkind, but despite this I would recomend to all.

The perfect French retreat
We’ve stayed in a number of French gites in recent years and this was undoubtedly the best: lovingly converted to a very high standard from former stables, Les Ecuries offers plenty of space both inside and out, with convenient open-plan living/kitchen/dining opening on to a shaded terrace and with further tables and seating placed around the beautifully maintained and planted gravel gardens. We were lucky with the mid-September weather and managed to eat outside every day of our ten-night stay, as well as making much use of the fastidiously maintained pool (shared with the other gite). Owners Sue and Trevor have thought of everything in kitting out the gite, and as a result the whole place is very well equipped.
The area is blissfully rural, with the only noise coming from the local wildlife, though the nearest village is just a short drive or 30-minute walk away for bread and groceries. Apart from the easy access to many of the Loire’s famous sites, there’s also plenty to see and do close to hand, with pretty villages, dramatic castles and dreamy riverscapes all within reach. There’s also a sprinkling of good local restaurants.

perfect spot for family break
The gite is well equipped, clean & comfortable. The location is quiet enough to enjoy the peace & quiet relaxing in the beautiful garden areas but convenient to local shops 5 mins by car and many sightseeing opportunities within an hour. We loved our stay and would highly recommend. Owners are welcoming & on-site.

Fantastic find in the Loire Valley
I highly recommend Sue and Trevor's Gite rentals. We were a party of seven and stayed in the 3-bedroom Gite; it was one of our nicest rentals during our month-long trip across France. The Gite was well stocked (except no salt and pepper) and we really loved the beautiful outdoor spaces; too bad the weather was inclement during our entire stay! My only complaint (and no fault to Sue and Trevor) was that the Internet was almost non-existent which made my "working while in France" plan a bit problematic. We would love to return in the future as we barely touched the surface of everything there is to see in this beautiful region.

comfortable, pretty and spacious. Lovely pool.
This was really enjoyed by all of our family. The gite was really comfortable, the gardens were pretty with sun and shade, the pool was warm and inviting, and the countryside was peaceful and full of interest. Our younger children enjoyed feeding the goats and chickens with the very friendly owners. We had days out visiting chateaux and canoeing on the river. We found it a very relaxing and stimulating stay and hope to return.

Nice week end!
A beautiful house, very well maintained with lots of charm. This place is really peaceful. Very well equipped for disabled with adapted bathroom on the ground floor and a spacious bedroom. A swimming pool with access for wheelchair! The whole family was thrilled!
In addition, we were very well received! Children are already asking for coming back.
Thank you for everything.

Fantastic location, clean & well equipped Gite.
I would highly recommend. Beautifully renovated Gite set in lovely established gardens. The outdoor heated pool is a blessing especially for the children! The nearest town Descartes (5 min drive away) is a bustling village town with all the amenities you need; bakeries, supermarket, restaurants, bars, gift shops, pharmacy, P.O. etc. A little further away in Le Grand-Pressigny I would recommend a local restaurant called La Grandma serving delicious french food, lovely local wines at good prices with a very friendly atmosphere. The owners, Sue &Trevor are lovely people and nothing is any trouble, they will even book your table for you! On arrival Sue & Trevor leave a welcome basket with baguettes, cheese, milk etc which is greatly appreciated after a long journey. We definitely recommend La Bouchet to our family and friends and would advise that 1 week isn't enough to explore this beautiful area of France. We stayed for 1 week and wish we had stayed longer! On the way home we visited the old capital of France (learnt from Sue & Trevor!) called Loches. We are glad we visited as it was beautiful with cobbled streets steeped in history. It is buzzing with cafes, boutiques, street markets selling everything from cheese, fruit, gifts, wine etc. Thank you Sue & Trevor for a wonderful holiday, from the Matthews and Evans family! About the host
Hosted by Trevor and Susan Aylett
Life in the UK was all pretty normal for us - I was a project manager with Xerox, Sue was a supply teacher at local schools and our two girls were happy at the local village school when the reality of redundancy reared its ugly head for me.After trying to start my own business, without success, Sue and I realised we needed a new challenge and after much thought I had the idea of moving to the Loire Valley in France and running gites, so here we are!
Why they chose this property
After spending over a year looking for the right place we came upon Le Bouchet. Close to Descartes, we realised that it was a great location as it was in the Loire Valley and on the border with the Vienne, making it an ideal location for holidays, having easy access to the major Loire Chateaux, the Futuroscope theme park and the Brenne National Park.
What makes this property unique
We know how important location is to get the best from your holiday, which is why we know you will enjoy your stay with us at Le Bouchet and we only have two gites, each with its own private landscaped areas to make sure you have as peaceful and relaxing time as possible. The gites location makes it perfect for seeing lots of the Loire chateaux but there are also lots of other things to see and do further south, locally and in the Vienne.
