Beautiful house with great facilities and amazing views. Great location to access both East and West beaches.Wifi was intermittant, but believe it's getting fixed. We'll be back.
Our 2nd stay, and we've already booked again. Superb and well equipped property in stunning location. When Storm Amy cancelled our ferry home at the end of our stay, the hosts could not have been more helpful. See you again next year!
We had a fabulous 10 day stay here, absolutely stunning views from the cottage itself, sat for hours looking out of the windows. We had migrating Geese on the property, seals only 2 minutes drive from the property and 2 amazing beaches on the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, will definitely visit again!
This was our third stay on Berneray in this beautiful house. Nothing had changed - it was still as dreamy as the first time. A true piece of heaven in the Outer Hebrides. Thank you!
Sealladh Mara is in an ideal location with views in virtually all directions. A 15 min walk to the north and west beach. Wildlife in abundance, owl, cuckoo and sea eagle. Property was very comfortable with all mod cons. Would recommend it without hesitation.
We had a wonderfully stay in this superb house which had everything we needed and more.it was spotlessly clean and comfortable in a stunning location with walks straight from the door and the garden was fully secure for the benefit of our dog
Would definitely recommend it and look forward to returning

In a lovely and peaceful spot, nice and close to the ferry port to lewis. Great local shop and bistro close by. Beautiful beaches close by to wander on. Overall a lovely island to visit, and explore. And the people very welcoming 👍
A lovely house, very warm and comfortable, well equipped.
Amazing views in a great position.
The wildlife was exceptional .
Looking forward to returning .
Felt at home from the first moment. Warm, welcoming house situated with stunning views. Clean, tidy, well laid out rooms with everything you would want for your holiday provided.
The owner very helpful when needed and would very much like to visit again.
Great house, well designed and equipped,
and in the most wonderful peaceful location with all round views.
Water pressure can be low at times so showers not always available, but that wouldnt stop me staying again.
We had a brilliant time. The house has everything you need, it is cosy, warm, bright and has sea views from nesrly every window. Stunning! Bad weather is no problem if you've got a place like this to hole up in.have a place to We would love to come again!
We had a fantastic week in this very comfortable house with the most incredible views. The house had everything you could want, it was warm, light and great to come back to every evening. The wildlife and beaches were fabulous and the community very helpful and friendly. We did not want to leave. We will be back.
We've stayed before and just love the relative isolation, the views, and the peace.
We are wildlife photographers, So the Short-eared owls and Hen Harriers that are around the cottage are a delightful distraction.
3 White -tailed eagles on the hill behind the cottage, while we were unpacking the car, was a bonus!
The house is lovely, modern, well equipped and well designed, we just love it!
The property is very well designed and furnished. It is in an elevated position and each window provides a beautiful view as far as the west and east coasts of Berneray. We watched some amazing sunsets whilst sitting outside. We enjoyed exploring Berneray and North Uist by car and on foot; the scenery was stunning and we were lucky to see the machair in full bloom. After a day out it was a treat to return to Sealladh Mara. It really was a home from home, only better.
Very comfortable and light and airy with great views. Modern with an open plan theme. Great location and close to West beach and walkable. Built on small hill with sheep and other wildlife as neighbours. 3 large bedrooms. 1 ensuite and upper bedrooms , 1 twin, share bathroom. Extensive kitchen dining area for 6 and enough cutlery and crockery for meals.
Beds are good size, king, and bedding was of high quality. WIFI and TV signals good.
This was at least the third time we have stayed at Sealladh Mara and we have booked to stay again. We just can't stay away! The house is fantastically located, a little exposed but with wonderful views. You can see the ferry for Harris coming and going out of the kitchen window along with short eared owls, hen and marsh harriers. wonderful sunsets are watched out of the open plan sitting room area. We also had an eagle glide over the house. Breathtaking.
Sealladh Mara is a short-ish walk over the machair to the north part of glorious West beach, which provides the best swimming on the planet! You can sit and watch the porpoise and the gannets dive in the Straight of Pabbay and look at the wonderful views of Pabbay and the Harris hills.
If the weather is not great the log burner is easy to light and heats the house within minutes and you can sit inside and watch the weather blow past. The house is perfectly designed with a decent utility area for wetsuits, boots etc, open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area and 3 lovely double/twin bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus a cloakroom loo.
Cannot wait to return!
The Perfect Winter Escape!
My partner and I have just returned from a month’s Winter break on Berneray in this fantastic house over the Christmas & New Year period.
From start to finish, communication with Steve was excellent. Super speedy responses, really helpful, kind and thoughtful… Christmas decorations and a welcome basket of goodies awaited us as we stepped inside this beautiful, contemporary, light, airy and cosy warm, clean house.
The photographs of the house do not do it justice. There are fantastic, 360 degree views which make this property just the most comfortable of bird hides from which to spot all manner of birds, including the near daily fly pasts of two White Tailed Eagles! My partner is the birder and absolutely loved the fact that he could run from room to room to watch these magnificent beasts flying across.
The scenery is stunning. Berneray is much flatter than probably the rest of the Outer Hebrides but what it lacks in height it makes up for with the dramatic weather fronts that storm across the island. A constant changing picture of magnificent clouds, colours, rainbows and sunshine. Out of the 30 days we only stayed in about 4 times when the weather was bad but apart from that, we were out every day walking in glorious sunshine, chilly but sunny with what seemed like, the whole island to ourselves!
Our favourite walk from the house was a good 3 hour trek. Turn right out of the gate and head over the machair to the sand dunes of West Beach - 3 miles of pure white sand being licked and washed with the rolling turquoise and blue waves crashing hypnotically onto its shore. Head North then turn right and walk over Beinn Shleibhe for fantastic views of Harris in the distance before dropping down onto East Beach, a curvier beach with more shells to peruse and views over to Skye. Walk past the old thatched Youth Hostel at the Southern end of East Beach (met one of the friendly wardens who was there for Christmas week who invited us in for a welcome cup of tea one day) before walking back inland to Ruisgarry and home to the beautiful house.
We loved the tranquility of the place, the friendliness of the people (not that we saw too many) the huge beaches all to yourself, the wildlife, the big skies, the remoteness and the comfort of a beautiful house with every thing you needed for a break away from all the world’s worries. Priceless! Highly recommend.
3rd visit - I think that speaks for itself - with our 4th already booked!

This property was fantastic, remote yes but the views, walks and beaches were amazing.I would highly recommend this property. The only thing that was poor was the arrival information which was not the fault of the property but i will be writing to you.
Lovely house in beautiful location with great views from all the windows. House is well equipped with a good layout and useful utility room. If you are lucky you can see many birds of prey and stunning sunsets from the windows.
