Former Resort Lodge - Best Family Getaway!!! PLEASE READ Description - Sleeps 20
+++PLEASE READ! Walker's Lodge rents only by the week in the summer and we are currently on a WAITLIST for our Summer weeks. We WILL NOT book more than one year in advance for our prime summer months (June - August). This allows our returning guests the opportunity to keep their standing date from year to year. If our returning guests do not keep their standing dates, we will open that week up to another guest. We have a one-week minimum (Friday - Friday) in the summer. Please DO NOT put in a reservation request for fewer than 7 days AND without waiting until ONE YEAR FROM THE END DATE OF INQUIRY. Thank you for your understanding and for your interest in our Lodge!!!+++
Formerly a resort lodge built in 1958, rustic Walker's Lodge is the ideal year-round vacation home for families and groups to make memories. The lodge has been updated and remodeled, while maintaining its fantastic charm and many original details.
The air-conditioned lodge sits on 290 acre Nicaboyne Lake, which is a fun, fully recreational lake between 10am-5pm. The area feels more peaceful than some of the other lakes in the area as the east side of the lake is undeveloped. When you look out to the lake from the lodge and beach it somewhat resembles the boundary waters. The lodge is set back from neighboring cabins, which were originally part of the resort, and is nestled in the woods, offering privacy. Its expansive front lawn is perfect for yard games like softball, kickball, tug of war, etc. The yard also has a shuffleboard and a horseshoe pit. Kids love the large play set, too!
The great room of the lodge has a lovely stone fireplace, large bar (which was originally the check-in desk), and a piano. The dining room offers seating for 30 and is full of large windows and light. As the resort was a fully functional restaurant at one point, it also has a commercial kitchen perfect for making meals together. Right off of the kitchen is the former lodge owner’s private quarters, which has an additional living room, full bathroom, and two bedrooms. It also has a separate entrance with an amazing screened-in porch, paver patio, Weber grill, and fire pit.
Right off of the great room and facing the woods is a second screened-in porch, where many love to read and relax during rain showers. The porch has a daybed with trundle for those who want to sleep closer to nature.
Up the stairs from the great room are 5 lake-facing bedrooms, 4 with queen beds and 1 with a full-sized bed. On the other side of the hall, facing the woods are two bunk rooms (full over full bunks - can sleep 4 children each very comfortably - or 2 adults each). There are also 2 full baths on this side of the hall, marked as ladies and gentlemen. :) The total square footage of the property is close to 5000.
Rentals include the use of a canoe, paddleboat, 2 paddle boards, and a 12-person Weeres pontoon.
*Please note that, due to unfortunate past experiences, we do not rent to bachelor and bachelorette parties.
**We also require a 3-night minimum over holidays.
***Reservation requests are accepted at our discretion.

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Peterson

Greetings from The Walker/ Peterson Family! Growing up on Lake Erie, the water and all the activities it offers have been an important staple in our lives. When we moved to the Twin Cities, we knew that a cabin would be in our future. After purchasing Peterson's Playground with Mike's brother, (on Des Moines Lake), we have simply fallen in love with this area and are thrilled to share our dream with you!
Why they chose this property
From the moment we walked into the lodge for the first time, we felt at home. Its rustic charm and large living areas drew us in, and we could just envision having our friends and family here. It's been fun discovering bits of lodge history (formerly known as Sugg's Resort) as we talk with neighbors and we would love to go back in time to enjoy it in its prime!
